Yeah it sucks that the Hawks will match because he would be a great fit in Memphis. Atlanta is one of those franchise the NBA needs to remove because we have too many teams.

Atlanta has a significant history for sure, and are legitimately back on the rise now. Just for several years before this past season, (even this past season they weren't a good team, but decent), they weren't anything.

Smith is a better fit playing in Atlanta at PF next to Horford, assuming they stay like that. This is because Horford is better than Gasol and Darko (who knows if they get a star-type center some time), and Horford also complements Smith better. Or, if Atlanta would go somewhat more traditional with Horford at PF, and Smith off the bench as 6th man, and then somebody at center.

I don't think the Clippers FO being incompetent had anything to do with the offer sheet. The fact that the Hawks matched it in less than 24 hours show you how pitiful the attempt was from the Grizz. At the very least they should try to clear cap space like the sixers did before acquiring they acquired Brand.
