Tarpley was great as a PF and fill in center. I would not consider him a center. He was Rodman Rebounding before Rodman. He was such a force and such a waste of talent. Therefore, the Center discussion is around Donaldson and Dampier. That is very close. PF is between Dirk. Perkins, and Tarpley. Dirk wins that in that he is the team leader where those guys never were. SF is Aguirre as he was a multiple time all star. SG is Blackman. PG is tough with Kidd, Harper, and Nash. I vote Harper as he was the best all-around as a scorer, defender, passer and leader. He basically wins by having fewer flaws.

Dampier
Dirk
Aguirre
Blackman
Harper

Also consider I am a good old days guy.

Cat:

1) Tarpley was not a starter, and he played center quite a bit. I would consider him a center. Therefore, the center discussion is around Tarpley, Donaldson and Dampier.

2) Aguirre being a multiple time all-star isn't the issue. Harper was never an all-star and you picked him. Detlef was the best all-around SF we ever had.

3) Harper basically wins by having fewer flaws?! That's a strange statement, considering that both of the players he beats out will be Hall of Famers. All it really points out is what an excellent player Harper was. He didn't make all-star teams because of the era that he played in, and the incredible point guards that were in the league at the same time he was.

HE WAS NOT AS GOOD OF A SCORER AS NASH, AND NOT AS GOOD A PASSER AS KIDD. BETTER DEFENDER THAN BOTH0

Tarpley was a starter at C when he played with the 3 Js in 94-95.

When he was playing before that he was 6th man behind Perkins and Donaldson.
And even in backup role he put up better numbers than both Perkins and Donaldson.

had it not been for the coke he would have been a beast of a player.

You are correct, sir. He did start for parts of his career. I think of him mostly as a bench player, I guess because he won 6th man of the year in '88.

I also agree with you that he would have been a beast if it wasn't for his addiction. What a waste.
