11 players on the roster now, what's next?

Post#1 » by Great » Sun Aug 10, 2008 10:36 am

Anyone know who is being looked at or worked out?

Are they thinking about a vet to back up Amare or rolling the dice on a young guy?

What about the backcourt? I heard about Dragic (aka Udrih), but how does that address what's missing?

And really couldn't Chris Quinn, John Lucas, or Blake Ahearn do what that guy is doing?

I don't have a clue what other guys besides Dragic are we looking at.
Dragic is a solid backup PG which we are missing so that adresses that problem, and no Chris Quinn and the others dont play nearly as good defensivly as Dragic does, he is very skilled and has great fundamentals and big potential so that makes him the best option out there at the moment and I thik we should go all out for him.

A 22 year old rookie backing up Nash. Not sure this team really believes it can win it all anymore.

You realise you mentioned Chris Quinn in your privious post right?

Even if Phoenix wanted Quinn, there's NO WAY he would ever want to be on a team with Shaq again after the way Shaq bad-mouthed him last year.

Remember these comments after he left Miami?

Nobody is asking me to play with Chris Quinn and Ricky Davis anymore.

But honestly, he would have been a good back-up because he played well for Miami towards the end of last season.

I just mention Quinn because I'm wondering what the hype is about Dragic.

Is it a publicity stunt to make fans think they're doing something?

Couldn't they simplify and sign someone I mentioned before and then spend time going after someone they REALLY need?

I found this on ktar.net -

With point guard Jason Williams off the market after signing yesterday with the Clippers, Gambo is reporting the Suns are looking at free-agent veterans Sam Cassell or former UA star Damon Stoudemire.

I like the Cassell and Damon idea as stop gap for our back-up PG need pending Drajic's arrival in the NBA.

i don´t know why you are sooo high on dragic. he didn´t prove a thing and i don´t think that we´ll win anything with him as a back up. before we´re signing casell i would prefer damon. he isnßt that washed up like cassel. but i gotta say that i hate both options...

so let´s see what´s happening. but i think we have to get a back up pg via trade, becuase noone is going to sign with us for the vet minimun...

worst case scenario - we sign allan houston to the vets minimun & sign sam i am cassel.
and than we´re set... and we don´t have no more chances at the championship...

actually i wouldnt mind us signing AH. obviously you don't know in what shape he is and if he still got it, but it's low risk at vet min and he might turn out as a good additional weapon since he used to shoot the 3 very well back in the day. and i think we could definetely use a solid 3pt-shooter. maybe he could be a better giricek for us.

for the pg spot i'm not really high on any of the remaining options: cassell, stoudamire. dont care. just hope they dont give away barbosa for nothing just to make cap space in order to be able to pay dragic the buyout money in salary (and the lux tax for it)

but i still have a little hope that marbury gets bought out and we sign him. or livingston would be fine too.
i'm totally ok with diaw as our backup pf. just sign marks to play the redundant minutes.
if all of that was the case i'd be VERY confident going into the next season. but i do realize that it's a big IF

I wonder what you guys would think about a trade with new york that gives us 2 back up bigs and a back up shooting guard.

Diaw and barbosa, for david lee, mailik rose and q-rich.

its easy why new york does it.

for us we get a very good backup for amare in lee, and a solid back-up in rose. he is old and undersized but he has held his own for years. q-rich gives us a good shooting guard who can rebound and defend when he wants. he can stretch the floor and be a spark off the bench of course.

rose expires this year, and q is 9mill expiring the year after along with shaq and nash and bell.

we resign nash, go after lebron, and we are set. there are a few others who we can go after if lebron doesnt choose to come work with an mvp in nash and one of the best offensive bigs in amare. lebron and amare alone would be unstoppable. add nash and we have a dynasty.

thats all i got.

-- Nice idea but at that point Nash will be 37 and who knows how his body will hold up? If anyone can pull a Stockton, it's him but getting leBron will depend on having the supporting cast, which is why everyone is jockeying now for salary room, not just for LBJ but also to assemble a roster that looks good to him. If Dragic is all they say, and Lopez comes along, and we add some pieces, and DJ works out .... lots of ifs.
I think he goes to a major media center - NY/Brooklyn or the Lakers as a third choice. If not the nets, the Knicks and if neither then LA would surely be attractive to a young rich superstar

PHX is a beautidful place but it doesn't offer the ancillary $$$ NY or LA do.

i think the biggest advantage the suns have over any team out there, is amare. imagine the cavs with anything resembling a low post presence. we will and do have better role players. and i understand what you are saying about having the capspace to sign other players.

lee is a very good back up, dj and lopez will most likely pan out. i think they just need playing time.
we will have enough money to sign another good player and a few solid reserves.

and think about this, how many players do you think would line up to play behind one of the best bigs in the game, and arguably the best player in the game. i would think alot. i dont count nash out because he has already made the mavericks look foolish.
