I mean fencing isn't exactly a huge super awesome sport, but it got the US three medals and the lead so far so you ain't complaining right?

Even big sports like swimming isn't huge at all outside of the olympics and is essentially non-consequential.

I was being sarcastic. There are all types of different sports that I would never watch but with the Olympics I will watch them. I recognize that different countries will win events that I've never heard of.

Oh and Misty May > Kerri Walsh imo.

Damn, 3 teams (US, French, Aussie) went under the World Record in the 4x100 mens freestyle earlier "today." The current record from the race is now the US's. Heres the crazy part, those teams feilded their "B swimmers" with the top 2 swimmers from those countries being added to tonites final.

Coach's are claiming the winner of the final will have to swim 2 second under the record just set.

I missed CBC's showing of the event earlier, any site carrying it? Or when does NBC plan to air the semi-finals heats?

Phelphs bid for the 8 gold, will be tested tonite, as French will have 3 of the top 10 swimmers on their relay team later tonite

and there was just a crash in the womens road cycling race, about 12 riders it looked like, everyone appeared to be ok

3 US riders in the top 5 as they begin the climb

The womens beach volleyball China vs. Greece was interesting.

Anyway, does anyone know what time Phelps next race is? I missed the first one, I want to see as many as I can. Really the only thing outside of basketball I'm interested in.

Yesterday swimming started at 9 PM central time I think. It may be the same, I'm not sure.

Well Beijing is 12 hours ahead from EST.
So I dont know the exact times of Phelphs races, but tuning in frmo 9pm-11:30pm EST
on CBC or NBC should allow u to watch the entire swimming program for tonite (morning
in Beijing live)

Phelphs swims the 200m Free first, then a few semi's and finals, and then he swims
again in the mens 4x100m.

His toughest test is the 4x100, where the French 4 will strongly challenge with
3 of the top 10 swimers in the 100m

LOL President Bush was asked a lot of political questions by Bob Costas but the last one was "Are you going to see any more events?" Bush said something like "I'm going to see the swimming but I'm doing this interview right now."

Just gymnastics right now. The US floor team had 2 girls injured so the remaining 4 girl's scores had to count. China had a score that was about .1 points better. But the US qualified I think.

I liked the taller one. They were saying she will be the next great sand volleyball player.

So Phelps can win his second gold tonight? I'm watching now and it's womens swimming so it should be on in a bit.

And the tall Chinese volleyball player was good looking. I didn't think the brunette from the Greek team was bad either.

WOW... I cant beleive that Brent Hyden pulled out of the 200m Freestlye. He qualified 3rd, and he pulls out, but will swim in the 4x100 mens relay, where there no shot at a medal essentially.....

I understand u have some back issues, but why would u pull out of this event, when u actually are a medal contender, to race in an event where to win broze, ur entire team needs to go under the world record....

Dont tell me its very nobel of him....In not sure whos decision or influence this is... either Brent or Canadian coach, but its the WRONG one.... In a country where swimming is followed alot at the summer games, and any athlete has not been on the podium since a bronze in 2000, i think its shocking to do this. I mean just send in another swimmer to be part of the 4x100men relay (who in all likelihood is racing for 5th)... instead of pulling out of ur individual event where u qualified 3rd.

Stupid Stupid, Irrational move, but I dont expect anything less from Canada's Program

Im pretty disappointed with this.... He better be the lead leg for the Canadian Relay Team and
set the world record in first 100m or something

Aww, Katie Hoff had the gold medal in the 400 but she couldn't hold on at the last 10 meters.

That's going to haunt her for a long, long time. That was hers, just ran out of gas atthe very end.

Yeah, I thought she had it after the last turn, but she just didn't have any juice left in the last 50 meters. Those two Brits gained one and half length in that last leg.

Phelps is coming on now!
