Shaq Again Cuts Price In Miami Beach
Basketball's Shaquille O'Neal has trimmed the asking price for his island mansion in Miami Beach again, to $29 million from $32 million. O'Neal, who was traded in February to the Phoenix Suns from the Miami Heat, previously had asked as much as $35 million for the 20,000-square-foot house, on 2.5 acres on a man-made island community called Star Island.
O'Neal, 36, bought the waterfront property for roughly $19 million in 2004, shortly after arriving in Miami from the Los Angeles Lakers.
Built in 1992 by Heat center Rony Seikaly, the house has eight bedrooms, an indoor basketball court, gym, steam room and sauna. The property also has a two-bedroom guesthouse , a tennis court, a pool, a dock and a six-car garage.

not surprised at all if Shaq's house keeps on going lower on value. In case you didn't Florida is currently going through a real estate crash, environmental chaos, and political turmoil. There's a water crisis and algae polluted beaches. There's mortage fraud and Florida's foreclure is rate is top 3 in the nation. There's politcal dysfunction, not to mention failing public schools. Bet Shaq is glad he's out of Florida.

The economy sucks, the real estate market sucks, and the real estate market in FL, CA, some parts of AZ and NV REALLLLLLLY sucks. Plus, there are probably at the very most 50 people in the world who could afford and would want to buy the house. You do that to yourself when you have a 30 mill house with a bball court.

Do you think there are times when Shaq regrets leaving Miami when you consider that Wade has looked so good for Team USA so far?
And when he's taken all the blame for the early first round exit last year?
I mean, people to this day still bash the trade and have called it one of the dumbest trades in NBA history.
The guy should have gone to Dallas or stayed in Miami; I don't think he quite realized the amount of pressure he faced coming to Phoenix.

Re: Shaq Still Trying to Sell his Miami Beach Home
^ Doubt it. I used to HATE SHAQ with all my passion since he was a Laker, and it all changed when he came to us. No, he doesn't have the same passion as KG, but the energy he plays with, all he has (which isnt much anymore, but still) makes me always think this trade HAD to be done. It's like that girl you always like but don't ask out. You'll never knew if you were meant to be unless you man up and ask her out. That's how this trade was. Do or die. No, it wasn't a win-win, but it was clearly a lateral move at best. Marion, if we kept him, would have opted out of his deal or stayed the extra year (2008-09) and then we wouldve gotten close to nothing for him, or would have had to take on major salary past the 2010 season (plus the already horrible contract of Diaw). The trade allowed us to get rid of a locker room problem ( as much as I loved him, there was too much going on behind the closed doors for us to just think he was the "nice, cool" dude we always thought he was, not saying it was his fault, but he clearly wanted out). We also netted us a MAJOR 2010 expiring, and got rid of Banks. ONE more right move, dumping Diaw, can put us over the hump without a doubt. If we could find a taker that will give us a backup PG/PF for Diaw, even if their contract goes to 2011, we should pull the trigger (depending on who the players are ofcourse). I would take Tinsley if they threw in a couple seconds and a 3rd team was involved for us to get a backup PF (Detriot or Utah?).

According to property value increases since 2004 in Miami, Shaq's house is only worth $23,448,550. Market value is closer to $21M. Don't think he is going to be selling anytime soon.

That's a good point; Griff mentioned in an article very recently that Marion just didn't want to be in Phoenix anymore.
