...practiced with the team for the first time Saturday night.

The bad news? Neither plays QB or OT.

Yeah, I was there. Dusty looked good. He did all the drills full speed and as well as any of the other tackles. I didn't get a good look at Jones though, I sat on the defensive side of the field.

Hanie threw good passes all practice and got the biggest ovation of the night when he hooked up with Monk(I believe).

If Rex or Kyle can't get their stuff together by end of the preseason and Hanie looks good, Lovie better seriously consider Hanie as the guy starting on opening day. From what I saw on Thursday night, I do like some of his deliveries and the command he had. Its kind of sad that we have two QBs with tenure incapable of leading in/out of the huddle. I'm still hoping Rex pans out this year, it would make for a good storyline.

Back to the topic of Dusty and Kevin: I believe Dusty will be good for the D-line (esp. when we face teams with really good backs) and having KJ back there every now and then add that extra surprise. I think we can use KJ on some good screen passes, so long our QBs can pass in those situations.

If Dusty can be as good as I think he can be then the Bears have a crazy good defensive line and it makes their total defense one of the top in the league again if the remaining players stay healthy.

From a CSN poll, "After preseason game number one, who do you want quarterbacking the Bears?"

All aboard the Caleb Hanie train!!
61.2%
Rex Grossman
21%
Kyle Orton
17.8%

Kind of sad that our third stringer looks like our best QB. Yet I still want to see more of Hanie.

I've been a Bears fan since 1977 and I can't think of too many years (outside of McMahon's tenure) that this wasn't the case.

I watched the game and Hanie did look good. But seriously, the kid is an undrafted free agent. And he was going up against practice squad players. Don't get me wrong, Grossman and Orton both suck, but do you really think Hanie will do any better or even as good as those two guys? Not a chance. Not yet anyways.
