18 Game Season - Yes or No?

Post#1 » by MickeyDavis » Mon Aug 11, 2008 2:19 pm

Adding a game or two (and reducing the number of preseason games) has been talked about for awhile. Now the commish said over the weekend he was seriously considering a 17 or 18 game schedule.

Personally I don't like it. The season is plenty long. I'd prefer keeping 16 games and reducing the preseason to 2 or 3 games but they won't do that, they would lose revenue.

Scheduling works out well now with the 4 team divisions. I don't want the season to start in August (or extend longer).

I remember when the regular season was 14 games and there were 6 preseason games. That was insane.

But I think 16 games is plenty. You already make enough money NFL, don't screw up a good thing.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

No, keep it the way it is. Although dropping a few preseason games wouldn't be a bad idea.

4 preseason vs 16 regular seems like a very weird ratio. That'd be like having 20 preseason games in basketball.

It would be a war of attrition......whoever finished the most healthy would win the superbowl.....

Keep it as is. But it was insane to have 6 preseason games....I think back about that when I was a kid and how ludacrisp a proposition that was.

I understand that the league is always looking to make more money but come on. You add 2 more games, the union will insist on another bye week and you would then have a 20 week season. You would either start in early August and play in extreme heat or end the season in late February and have a lot of regular season games in January. The networks would have to pay more for having more weeks. The players would make more since revenue would go way up.

I don't like it.

No, and this is the best reason.

Totally true. Idea sucks. Leave it alone. Maybe dump 1 preseason game.

I know there are many die hards that would be happy w/ year-round games - I am maxed out now and would start skipping games if expanded.

Wait, wait, wait, wait the hell one second... When the hell was there a Super Cocoa Crisp? As a cereal aficionado, I can't believe I missed that one. The box looks circa 1980s...

Id guess based on the use by/sell by (i dont know which it is but thats the only thing i can guess as for why it has the date there) of May 74 on the top of the box that it is from sometime in 73? I have no idea how far in advance cereals "last". (Honestly its freakin cereal, how could it "expire"?)
