Baldelli makes debut

Post#1 » by craig01 » Sun Jun 15, 2008 4:26 pm

Rocco Baldelli will begin rehab as a DH in Class A.

I wouldn't get too excited, as he's played a several extended games with out much success.

Still, hope all goes well for him as he's never given up.

Best of luck Rocco.

Didnt Rocco suffered this injury playing pick up basketball?

Edit: nevermind i just read the article, i had no idea he had a fatigue problem. Did he ever heal fully from that knee injury playing basketball?

Yeah, the knee got better (ACL), and while rehabbing tore a ligament in his throwing elbow.

The muscle fatigue thing is really strange.......and my guess is his rehab won't be successful.

Supposedly he's getting stronger, but nobody has said the magic words of "he's healthy" yet.

If he still has those fatigue problems then it would be in the Rays best interest to use him exclusively at DH.

I'm still not expecting anything because nobody has said he is either healthy or recovered.

I hope he is..........but.....

Rocco finished his rehab assignment going 6-29, with 2 hr's.

He did not play in the field.

Further discussion will continue as far as his next move. (Expect a Class A assignment).

Still, NOBODY says he is healthy, only that he is working through it. Hmmmmmm........

Re: Baldelli nears return

It appears that Baldelli is on something of a fast track.

Joe Maddon indicated that Baldelli may be back on the roster fairly soon.

http://tampabay.rays.mlb.com/news/artic ... sp&c_id=tb

TORONTO -- Manager Joe Maddon's pregame talk on Tuesday gave legs to the prospect that Rocco Baldelli could return to the Rays at any time.

The 26-year-old outfielder is playing for Double-A Montgomery and is scheduled to do so through Friday, while trying to overcome the effects of having a mitochondrial disorder. Baldelli announced his malady during Spring Training, beginning the season on the 60-day disabled list because of it. The disorder is an abnormality that has kept him in a constant state of fatigue.

"I think as he continues to progress this way we can start thinking [about getting him back]," Maddon said. "It's the old setback. If he can avoid the setbacks, I think we can continue to be optimistic that he's going to return, and I would have to say relatively soon."

Rocco says he's healthy.

I guess he'll return when Bartlett is healthy.......then either Zobrist or Aybar go down.

Baldelli made his season debut last night against the Mariners.

One hit, one rbi, and one diving catch in RF.

Nice start.

A healthy return could be huge in the wake of Crawford's status.
