Re: OT: Indie Rock Thread- Part II
I really can't get into Sigur Ros, which is weird because that sort of Nordic experimental alterna-rock is right up my alley. It's the guy's voice, so whiny. He sounds like Thom Yorke on helium.
Anyone like M83?
They sound like shoegaze meets New Wave. Their new album is slick and groovy.

yeah i like M83.... i saw them (him?) in dc a few years ago
they aren't a band where i'll listen to their CD over and over, but when their songs come on my itunes shuffle, i won't skip it
i'd recommend 'don't save us from the flames'

I've been listening to "Hey baby, que paso" by the Texas Tornados a lot recently.

Yeah, the song's a complete My Bloody Valentine copy, but done in a real good way. I hadn't seen the vid, so good looking out.
Anyone else into this kinda sound should check out A Strangely Isolated Place by Ulrich Schnauss.
Oh yeah and you're right, M83 is just one dude, my bad . . .

I'm digging this stuff. It's definitely a genre that I haven't really listened to much in the past, but I can get into it. I could probably actually get work done while playing this.

Some of your suggestions have led me to the Boards of Canada.

Re: OT: Indie Rock Thread- Part II
As long as you have been on this board, I can't believe you never heard that song before, I have posted it here I'm guessing at least 10 times in the past.
I only wrote it as a joke, because back in the spring of 2005 a lot of Bulls fans kept saying that I hated Eddy because I didn't want us to sign him to a big contract- like the one Isiah gave him.
Just like you guys have now figured out, for the MLE playing ~20 minutes a night, Eddy could really earn his money as a back-up center who could easily score 10-13 points in those 20 minutes.
Which was my point with Bulls fans 3 1/2 years ago- but if you want to say that I hate Eddy Curry, I'll damned well show you that "I Hate Eddy Curry".

But the song sure rings true nowadays, eh?
Oh, and thanks for clicking on the link- but I'll assume, since you didn't comment on the rest of our songs, that we sucked as much as I thought we did?

Well, I tried to click on the other songs, but they wouldn't play for some reason. Also, my speaker isn't loud at all on my computer so I couldn't really hear it that well. I couldn't hear the lyrics in the Eddy Curry song at all.

Yeah, I just went there and none of the other songs would play- it's a MySpace problem, it used to work- I'll have to check it out.
But I could hear the words to "I Hate Eddy Curry" very clear, but that was the only song that would play.

LOVE Boards of Canada. Music Has the Right to Children is one of the best electronic albums ever made. It's my personal all-time favorite.

Check out this vid from that album. This is the standout song, in my humble opinion. . .

I spent about $400 the last couple of days on new CD's, including some stuff from Boards of Canada (and the whole Staxx and Atlantic records soul music collections), but somehow I neglected to get this one. Crap!

If you bought Campfire Headphase, return it. Otherwise, you'll be good.
I should really get some more early soul into my collection.

Re: OT: Indie Rock Thread- Part II
I gave another listen to the MGMT album. I wasn't blown away at first, but now I think it's pretty impressive. Definite songwriting skills at work there. It kind of loses momentum in the second half, but it really does have a cool vibe, sort of Bowie meets Prince at times . . .
