Ben Gordon for Wallace?

Post#1 » by Rich4114 » Mon Aug 11, 2008 12:55 am

I'm just throwing this idea out there, but how would Gordon fit on this team? We could move J-Rich to SF and we'd improve our shooting. Gordon and J-Rich would light it up from down town. I think we'd have to take something else from them for the numbers to work or something. Just figured I'd put the idea out there though if it's possible.

What does trading Wallace have to do with moving JRich to PF? If you did this trade (which is crazy, by the way), you'd start Gordon at 2 and JRich at 3. This is just a really goofy post with two bad ideas baked into it.

I'm pretty sure Rich meant SF and not PF.

They wouldn't want Crash after throwing so much money at Deng to play the 3.

Im sure Okafor wouldnt mind playing ball with his old college team mate but i cant see the cats wanting to give up Crash for Gordon. It would be great if the cats would give Ben a 3 or 4 year contract but im sure the guy would be asking for way too much money. It would be great if Chicago would trade Ben for DJ and a future draft pick.

the same BYC rules that complicated okafor deals also apply to ben gordon deals. gordon for wallace wont work. lots more players have to be involved.

I definitely meant SF not PF for J-Rich. I figured a Ben Gordon deal would be complicated, but I still think he would fit well on our team to play a Richard Hamilton type of role in this new LB system.

Crash can only be traded for a BIG. Ben is nice, but not a fit here. We would need to get a legit starting PF to move Crash. I would consider Haslem and a #1 but I now I am in the minority on that

Why? I wouldn't want to do this at all. Gordon is going to want to be overpaid, and this means we have to bring in a veteran PG to help at the position. Plus we give up a future pick? Nah, no thanks.

Jrich/Dudley/morrison/?FA#3?
May/Simmons/Davidson/use okafor at 4 for 10-15mpg if May cannot go when  Gray is in

1) I'm not sure such an arrangement would work salary wise.
2) even if it does, why would Chicago do this when they have Deng and Nocioni at the 3 already?

I would only deal Wallace for size. And only if we are receiving quality back in return. Otherwise, we might as well stand pat with what we have going into the season.

Just let this die as it should. Gordon is a 6th man wanting 2nd option money. His lack of ability at the PG position forces him into playing the 2, and I can't think of a much worse wing combo defensively than Swish/Gordon.

He needs to be paired with a tall PG like Harris so they can switch on defense.

There you go...and the most important word in that line is QUALITY.
