darius miles rumors

Post#1 » by YUNG CELTAHOLIC » Mon Aug 11, 2008 5:39 pm

yea ik the summers been slow and it seems like darius miles is the only rumor in the past 2 months. however i have been getting alot of negative feedback on him. many question his health and condition. well im sure that was the main reason DA worked him out...to test his conditioning...and he was impressed. i also here that he jus plain sucks. he did however drop 47 one game vs the nuggets and averaged 18.2 points in the first 15 games of the 2005-06 season before his operation.. imo i would be glad to see him get a chance here. he has good size and is very athletic. any thoughts/comments

yeah, he's gotta be in great shape, considering all the eighth-ounce curls he does.

A training camp invite for Miles would be appropriate, but not a guaranteed contract. A workout is a sprint. A season is a marathon. Just because you have a good workout doesn't mean you're going to last 110 or so games. As the failed Scot Pollard experiment showed last year.

"He was much better than I thought he would be,'' a member of the Mavericks' camp said. "On a scale of 1 to 10, I was expecting him to be 6. But he was a good, solid 8.''

"I'm physically 100 percent,'' Miles said in his first interview since attempting a comeback unprecedented in this salary-cap era. "I'm not in [basketball] shape, but healthwise and bodywise I'm 100 percent. I've got the explosion, I can move.''

"I feel like I'm a starter in this league -- on a lot of teams I really should be a starter,'' he said. "But I would love to go to a playoff team to come off the bench.''

One executive at the Las Vegas summer league who has been following the details of Miles' comeback predicts that he'll be playing in the league next year; another calls it a "no-brainer'' that a team will sign him.

"There's no pain, no swelling,'' Miles said. "Say if a team signs me tomorrow: I'm going directly to that state, buy me a house and start working out with them all the way up to training camp. I'm just hoping it's a playoff team.''

Did basketball come too easily for him? If Miles used to take his talent for granted, he doesn't anymore. He is working hard to recover his gifts.

"I just had a son, he's six months old, and I want my son to see me play basketball,'' Miles said. "I want to get that adrenaline rush. I don't see myself getting it nowhere else but in a big old arena with a bunch of people, and your heart beating. But it's not a scary beating; it's a hyped kind of beating. You know what I'm saying?

all im saying is that its a low risk. IMO he would be great to come off the bench for 15-20 to play some d, swat some shots, and get a few easy buckets driving in the lane. (hes known to be a great finisher) and his idol is KG and hes close friends with paul so i wouldnt see why there would be any problems in the locker room when the two captains will keep him in check. of course there is doubt since he hasnt played a game in nearly two years but like i said, its a low risk

CT was the single greatest poster ever on the forum. He could whip up a frenzy in seconds just by stating what he claimed to know. As inside information. It was always entertaining.

Does CT post anywhere else now? Also all of CT's posts ended up on the front page of the site etc. Like he once posted that the C's were interested in Lewis and then the next day that was on the front page. It was very impressive.

CThug had this whole board in rapture for a short period of time; pretty hilarious stuff in retrospect.

As for Miles, he looks like he could be a really nice pickup if possible. I know he can't shoot, but he's a great athlete who can D it up and hit the boards. He'd bring athleticism and the ability to go small and quick at the 4, which we currently cannot do. Looks like we'll have some competition for his services though. I don't think he's a starter in the league, since his conditioning will be poor to start and because it's hard to get better as a player when you're recovering from a catastrophic knee injury.
