If Vince Carter makes in into the HOF...

Post#1 » by subzerokidz » Tue Aug 12, 2008 3:17 am

Is it as a Raptor or a Net?

He set his career with the Raps, not to mention played his best years there, but the hatred there leaves it uncertain.

unless theres a slam dunk wing theres no way in hell he make it in....

now if this is a hypothetical thing i think its pretty hard to argue against him going in with the raptors... especially if he goes in under the merit of best dunker ever... considering the fact he accomplished some of his greatest dunks as a member of the raptors... but again if this is based on him as a player no way in hell he makes it in

I'm fine with Vince not making it into the HOF as long as similar players such as T-Mac and Pierce don't make it in as well...

he would be the only player not to show up for his own induction?

I think VC is complete waste of talent. Soft and a punk. I think more highly of used toilet paper.

if Vince Carter had Kevin Garnett and the rest on his team, he would have won the title too..

Pierce wasn't anything close to a winner before this year..he led some teams in a mediocre conference, just like Carter did with the Raptors..Vince's talent is undeniable, and is probably superior to Pierce's..Vince has NEVER had a player like KG on his team..a guy that instills confidence in his teammates and raises their level of play on both sides..

Vince has never had anybody to influence him like that..not a coach, not another player..

But he doesn't and he didn't.

Let me know when hypothetical accolades are tantamount to actual ones.

Agreed! some of y'all might bash me right now but personally i think pierce is more on the level of caron, like watching a lot of the boston games i kept thinking to myself that if caron was on that team instead of pierce the outcome prolly would have been the same. The only reason why pierce had an effective season and playoff run was because he was the go-to to guy based on default of the fact that he was the team's building block. And then i also feel the people hype him to much. You cant honestly say players like vince carter, tracy mcgrady, manu, and even caron butler are less talented then pierce, because if you were to put KG and Ray Allen around any of those guys they would have the same outcome. Plus if Boston had won game 3 before going on to win game for ray allen would have been mvp.

What about J Kidd? He's similar in a way to KG, because he does instill confidence in his teammates and raises their level of play. Maybe not as much on the defensive, but imagine how good Vince would be on defense if he used all of that athleticism and wasn't lazy. We agree on Pierce not being a winner before KG and Ray. You say he led some teams. I say led them where? The worst record in the East? I say if Paul Pierce makes it into HOF then so should Vince, not one without the other. Individually, Vince is superior to Pierce.

is it just me or do people including pierce himself give too much credit to pierce for boston's championship. everybody knows for the fact that this dude can't even win a candy from a fat kid with another guy supporting him, when walker was there, he was winning, walker leaves, pierce was a dweller, a write-off, part of one of the worst team than he gets an all-star and a hall of famer and now he and others think he's the best player in the world. I used to like pierce but his ignorance as well as his fans are just outrageous.

put allen and garnett with any of the all-star (NOT HALL-OF-FAMERS) and they'll win championships be it TMac, Carter etc.

McGrady, IMO, will be looked at, provided he gets out of the first round (which I think he will do this year), as better than Pierce and Carter and rightfully so- he's pretty much consistently been Top 8 in MVP voting the last 8 years or so, since 2000. He also had that one epic season.

For comparison's sake, Pierce and Carter each have four top 15 finishes in MVP voting.

But, yeah Prime Vince was a little better than Prime Pierce, but by and large, they've been in the same tier for most of their careers.

Pierce has the Finals MVP and the championship- that will count for something- but isn't enough to elevate Pierce over Vince into another tier: he's the better player now IMO because of his defense, but it could go either way.

Vince will probably be remembered more by the casual fan- simply because of his dunking and out of this world atletisicism- but neither player should get into the Hall of Fame without the other.

Both Vince and Tmac have been on better teams than Pierce has not including this past year.

PP has always brought no matter what teammates he had or coaches he had....he never gave up like those other two.

PP was a top 5 player in '01-'02 and he plays better dense than either Tmac or Vince.....if Vince makes it into the HoF so does Pierce and Tmac.

As of right now only Pierce deserves to be in it because he's the better all-around player who stays healthy.

Pierce is not better than Tmac. It doesn't matter that he won finals mvp. Tmac had some pretty big seasons in Orlando. One season he averaged 32 ppg. He's better than both Carter and Pierce, but he has always been injured and his lack of success at the team level is going to hurt him. I'm not sure there are many players who have averaged 30+ ppg for a whole season and not made the HOF.

Game wise it is T-Mac, PP, then Vince
Career Accolades wise it is PP. T-Mac then Vince

according to basketball reference;
HoF probability goes Vince, PP, T-Mac... although im not sure i understand the new system they have

How can Vince Carter be ahead of PP or T-Mac in HOF? I mean he's achieved less than both.
