Defensive players

Post#1 » by Nowak008 » Sat Aug 9, 2008 1:31 am

Just joined a 10 man keeper league that has defensive players in the scoring system. How high should I be drafting them? Who are some guys I should stay away from?

Tackle Solo (1)
Tackle Assist (.5)
Sack (2)
Interception (3)
Fumble Force (2)
Fumble Recovery (3)
Touchdown (6)
Safety (3)
Pass Defended (2)
Block Kick (3)

I get one defensive back and one other defensive player.

What do you guys think?

Yea that is probably best. How high should I be taking a defensive player? Any ideas on the best D backs, I have to have one of those.

later rounds depending on your league. when you're done with your core team and you think your sleeper may be around next time you pick getting a good defensive player isnt a bad idea. incase of dbacks a good all round players are better than a high int total corner. these are last years rankings

Wow, tackles count for that much? If it’s a roto league, I’d probably consider drafting an impact LB or DB as early as fifth round. Head-to-head, probably a little bit later, somewhere in the 8th-9th round.

While age is generally a factor in drafting offensive players in a keeper league, I wouldn’t be worried about it too much with defensive players. Defensive peaks tend to be a little bit longer compared to offensive players.

Why would it being a head to head not matter as much?

Because the streakiness of week-to-week tackle totals combined with the value of aggregate numbers in roto. For instance, a guy that has 100 tackles in ten game is more valuable in roto than a guy that does the same by averaging 10 tackles over the same period. Those 100 tackles are a net total in roto but, in h2h, the ten per week only help you win that one category that week.

Draft them really late.

Oh yeah, get Cromartie for interceptions.
