Re: Olympic games thread - General
Dammit, there was a world record set in every swimming discipline today. There has to be something in the water.
PS: Slovenia got its first medal! Yes!

From now on, they have to swim naked, no help from swimsuits!

Actually on CBC here in Canada, they did an analysis of the pool in the Watercube and why its helping swimmers break records like crazy. So yeah, the pool has helped the swimmers this time around.

Phelps looked tired in the butterfly, hopefully he is ready to go in his next race.
But wow, he has the most medals of any Olympian.

Has Phelps said whether or not he'll be competing in 2012? I'm sure he could be a gold medal winner for the next 2 (dare I say 3?) Olympics being the freak he is. Not sure he wants that, though. I could definitely understand him calling it quits after this.

I read somewhere that he will be going to the 2012 games but he does not want to swim as many events as he is now. It's possible he could swim in 2016 (I hope Chicago) and swim some relays, since he will only be 31 years old. Right now Jason Lezak is 32.

Phelphs is 23 now, and he will be swimming in 2012 Olympics and call it quits after.
He is gonna cut down the swims, and distances... its speculated he might not race the 400IM again.
I wonder if he can possibily start training to be a spiriter in the 100m free.... To me thats still the race of swimmering supremacy

The US women's gymnastics team is 1 point behind China for the gold with floors as the last event. One of the US girls fell off the balance beam as she attempted to land on it from jumping.

Here name is Alicia Sacramone, and wow I really do feel bad for her. I hope China somehow chokes and the US miraculously can win the gold.
