Sheffield placed on waivers

Post#1 » by Liqourish » Wed Aug 13, 2008 12:51 pm

According to wiretap, Gary Sheffield and "others" have been placed on waivers. We know Sheffield's been unhappy with playing time even though he's played like crap. What does this mean for the team and who are the "others"?

The only mention of OTHERS that I could find referred to other teams that would be interested in him.

Wouldn't mind Renteria being placed on waivers though. I hated that trade the moment I heard about it.

2009 baby.

Sheffield was among several Tigers placed on waivers by the club Tuesday, according to a major league source and reported by ESPN.com.

He was one of "several" Tigers placed on waivers and then he went out and hit two solo home runs.

I think Renteria could be one as well.

I know being placed on waivers doesn't nessecary mean a trade is imminent, but after Gary's remarks about playing time and Leylands remarks to Gary, I think Dombrowski might be wise to see who's interested and try to work something out.

Tampa might want him now that Crawford is out.
