Chemistry will triumph over stardom. USA is favored by 20 points, but Greece will put up a tough fight and with there size and international style of play, Spanoulis will take over and give Greece the victory. Greece is known for their defense and their ability to frustrate players. Will see what happens, I could be a little bias since I am greek, but I got faith.

it did happen 2 years ago? I know they have kobe...but Kobe cant stop all 5 players. This greek team has been playing together for years. They have the killer instinct and the chemistry to beat better teams. Theres not one NBA player on the Greek team so theres no star trying to take over the game. They just play their style and their defense and it wins them games...

I had nothing but respect from Greece. They're a great team, they were very deserving victors in 06. They played a flawless game.

That said, I can't stand all the knocks international fans make about our game. I.E., stars trying to take over the game. Please. There hasn't been a single problem with selfishness -- not this year, not last summer, and not in 06 -- on this team. If anything, they're too unselfish. Our guys are definitely going to take 1 on 1 opportunities if they have them, but that has more to do with the style of the league they play in than any desire to grab the spotlight. This team shares the ball, they play exceedingly hard on defense...other than poor outside shooting, we've been virtually flawless.

Yet all you hear is the same canned crap -- the U.S. is just a bunch of selfish, show-boating ball hogs who don't know how to play "real" basketball. F that. Hence, I'm hoping we can make all those critics eat their words by humiliating each and every team in our path. No prisoners. (Sorry, Pau, but that goes for you too, buddy. I hope we beat your ass.)

Spain didnt destroy Greece...it was close throughout the game, and it was the first game of the olympics. Greece and Spain are both good enough to give USA problems.

I just think that USA team has not adapted to european style yet. The game is played differently then how it is in the NBA and you can see Kobe struggling in his first 2 games of the Olympics which is exactly what happened in 2006. USA has a challenge a head of them today and I predict a victory for Greece.

USA will not blow out every team. They faced a depleted and young China team, and a Angola team that loses on an average of 25 points. Thats how USA lost to Greece, they overlooked them and admitted they knew nothing about the Greek players. Now all your hearing is melo and lebron saying weve studied Greece...and we want "redemption."

Should be a fine test for the US PGs, going up against the caliber of Dimantidis and Papaloukas. I think Kobe will take the assignment to guard Spanoulis who is a more creative guard for Greece. Should be a nice game overall and I'll have to wake up to watch this!
