Is Nate Robinson a good basketball player?

Post#1 » by yungal07 » Thu Aug 14, 2008 2:58 am

I'm having a debate on the Knicks board and there are a few posters there who believe that Nate Robinson is a good player.

Do you believe Nate is an upcoming young combo guard or an undersized gunner off the bench?

His numbers:
12.7 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 2.9 apg, 1.43 apg, 52.9% TS% in 26.2 mpg

Is he a good player? In it's simplest form: yes.

Is he a good player? Not Yet
Is he a talented player? Definitely
Will he be a good player? If he can play on a legit team

depends on what your definition of good is.
id personally say hes about average. with the whole height thing you have to be a real plus in other areas and i just dont think he makes up adequately.

A gunner for sure. He's a quick spark of offense, but he's been doing it on a Knicks team that hasn't gone anywhere yet. He could be an effective offensive contributor off the bench for a real team though.

I think he makes up for his height physically, he's just not a leader. He's a good player yes and I'd take him on my team. He wouldn't start though. He's definitely a gunner off the bench, gives you good minutes, jack some 3s, attack the basket get some fouls, but not a point guard in the sense of getting other people better looks.

I wouldnt want him playing more than 20 minutes for most teams. Good scoring punch off the bench, but cant really defend or create for others. I also dont see him ever becoming a starter due to his limitations.

Overall a good 7th or 8th man.

He is a solid player, not a good player.

He's an average player... I doubt he will ever be a starter due to his defensive limitations... but average for sure

He can't even dominate Summer League.
I think he has a lot of work to do but he's not that bad. I think he gets a bum rap because he's on the Knickerbockers.

I'm pretty sure he dominated summer league a year ago.

hes a good player, but hes best coming off the bench as the 6th or 7th man for instant offense, becuase he isn't a PG , a really, really tiny SG.

yes, if anyone's ever played basketball you would know you'd have to be a damn good basketball player to play in the NBA at his height. in relation or comparison to other players then hes a solid player.

Depends on role.

As a 8th man gunslinger you can enter for shooting and general scoring? Yes.

Permanent rotation guard with responsabilities? Nope.

No, he's not a "good" basketball player. But he is an NBA player, likely a fringe rotation one on a great team. 10-15 minutes a game, maximum.

I think you have to be a pretty good basketball player to be 5'9 and score 45 points in an NBA game. Just my 2 cents.
