Vujacic: Hardest Work is Offseason

Post#1 » by iamworthy » Thu Aug 14, 2008 8:52 pm

"It is not a secret that I want to be the best shooter in the NBA," Vujacic explains. "We already have the best shooting guard and probably the best player that ever played. I want to be the best shooter, and that's my goal."

And then there is all the stretching. Few exercises are as deceptive as the stretching routine, whereby the player is laying on the ground while trained professionals around him push the body to its limits. Vujacic has hired a special assistant just to help with the stretching before and after his practice sessions. And all of this is just in preparation for the team workouts when the Lakers training camp starts in less than two months.

"I started working out a few weeks ago and will do it pretty much until it kills me. I want to be totally ready for training camp. I will not stop during the summer. I am practicing once a day and will increase to two a day. But now I also know how much rest is also important. I don't want to overdo it. I want to be able to deliver next season."

Sasha's doing shooting drills - not exactly newsworthy. Now get me some snaps of him squating and lunging and I'll be impressed.

Either way, love to see young guys taking the off-season seriously.

Yeah, I just posted it because I know us laker fans like to know who's putting in the work in in the offseason. Plus its a slow day on the board :)

Vujacic will be a starter by all-star break.

With all the money he's getting now since he resigned with us I think its getting to his head, HE HIRED A SPECIAL STRETCHING COACH to help him stretch.
Maybe he should spend some of that money and get a haircut so it doesnt get in his way when he shoots.

Sasha is a pure shooter. Theres no reason to think he is going to start jacking up bricks. He's come a long way and I think all laker fans can attest to that. Here are is 3pt FG% since he's been in the league:

04-05 .270
05-06 .343
06-07 .373
07-08 .437
08-09 ???
