Not sure why it's so funny....

No one's saying he IS MJ, that's ludicrous. -- But, style of play on certain things MJ did is certainly there with Wade w/o a doubt.

That's the case with a ton of players. Many players drive to the hole.

If want to compare Dwade to anybody, try a poor-man's Allen Iverson or Clyde Drexler. Those comparisons make much more sense than to say Dwade reminds people of Jordan.

and then the rest.

Why bring in Kobe? LOL!

We're NOT comparing overall standing value/rank, but their style of play.

Wade does not play like Kobe, but he does play like MJ. -- Not sure why that's so hard to grasp. :dontknow:

No one is talking about Wade>MJ>Kobe or anything like that.....

I agree 100% with this post. I don't understand why some people bring in random players that they don't like in an irrelevant content as a means to discredit them.

Kobe Bryant.

Thoughts on Team USA so far

Thursday, August 14, 2008 | Feedback | Print Entry

Posted by Chris Broussard

Some of the thoughts floating through my mind while watching Team USA rout Greece Thursday morning:

Dwyane Wade is back. All the way back! In fact, he may be better than ever, what with his added strength from his newfound love of lifting. I admit that I was among the skeptics. I thought Wade would still play at an All-Star level, but I had strong doubts as to whether he'd ever reach his 2006 form again. I wasn't sure that he should have even been on Team USA because I thought he'd be a lesser duplication of Kobe Bryant. But Wade's been far better than Bryant -- offensively and defensively. Hopefully, he can stay healthy for the upcoming NBA season (not just healthy enough to play, but fully healthy and free from nagging injuries) because he's putting himself back in the conversation with LeBron and Kobe for the game's premier player. Oh, and Michael Beasley's prediction that Miami will return to the playoffs next season is looking better and better.

I wonder if Miami can still get Rose for Wade and Beasley? Do you think Chicago will go for it?

I disagree with Broussard about Wade playing better than Kobe defensively. Wade is making the flashy plays by blocking shots and getting steals but Kobe is doing the grunt work, denying passes, shoving people out of position, and contesting every shot in his vicinity.

Agreed. Wade is playing better offensively, for sure, but Kobe's defense has been much better.

Getting lots of steals does not mean you are playing great defense, particularly when you get burned more times than not as a result. Has anyone ever considered Iverson an above average defender because he's always among the leaders in steals? Of course not. People are getting a little carried away here, but it's not particularly surprising. Anything to knock Kobe down a notch or two...

I don't really see Wade's game being similar to Jordan. If anything imo Wade is like Ginobli. Wade has that sidestep he uses a lot to get to the rim. Ginoblis probably more unorthodox but they both play a lil out of control. Jordan used his midrange game more than Wade does imo. Wade would go to the basket every time if his body could handle it.

Just because Wade goes to the basket a lot doesn't make him like Jordan. Maggette goes to the basket a lot doesn't make him Jordan. I know a lot of people are getting excited about Wade and how he has performed but he isn't going to be able to do this in the NBA. None of these guys can play the same way in FIBA as they do in the NBA.

I laugh when people get mad that the US team only beats someone by 20 points. If the Celtics beat Memphis by 20 points that's a friggin laugher and no one gives it a second thought. You beat the #4 team in the world by 20 and it's like "ehhh they still need to work on it."

These guys will go back to their normal playing style once the NBA season starts.....
I'm so tired of the typical......

:waaa:

This thread is not even about knocking Kobe but instead discussing Wade's improvements from the injury-riddled season he had and game similarities to MJ's early years in the league. Get over yourself.

Getting steals doesnt mean youre playing great defense, but it doesnt mean youre playing bad defense and getting "burned more often than not", like you described Wades defense so far.

You just gotta watch the games, ... He and Bosh played great pick and roll and team defense when they came in vs. Greece, so why assume that gambling for steals is the only thing hes doing?
