The Oakland Raiders agreed to terms on a contract with Adam Archuleta on Monday in a move to add depth to their defense.
Archuleta was at the Raiders facility Monday morning and left with trainer Rod Martin to take a physical. Archuleta was expected to take part in the night practice. The team did not immediately announce a corresponding roster move to create space for Archuleta.
Archuleta has been a safety in the NFL but played linebacker in college at Arizona State. He could contend for a spot as a backup safety or for the starting strong side linebacker job in Oakland.

Re: Raiders agree to terms with Archuleta
Archuleta as a LB would be interesting... he's an excellent tackler, just horrible at being a safety valve. If he's big enough for it, I wouldn't mind him landing the role next to Howard and Morrison... that would be one quick trio of LBs, all of whom who are at least decent at tackling.
Archuleta as a SS or even FS makes me wish Schweigert never left.

Re: Raiders agree to terms with Archuleta
My best friend is a Rams fan, and basically, his view on Archuleta is "He's really bad in coverage, but is a solid tackler and is great up at the line especially in terms of blitzing".
So yeah, I dont really want to see him roaming deep as a "valve" as Reggae put it, but I'd like to see him at linebacker. We could just use him to blitz the hell out of opposing teams and help stop the run.

I think this is a low risk high reward scenario If he gains weight I think he will be a good linebacker.

Has Archuleta even seen the field? Anyone hear anything about him? (Reggae?)
He can't be anymore useless than Ricky Brown.

He got cut... apparently wasn't in the same shape he was in a rookie. From what I heard, this will likely be the last you hear of Adam Archuleta in the NFL period. He was a disaster.
