Lebron says he's THE leader of team USA

Post#1 » by MagicFan32 » Sat Aug 16, 2008 11:55 pm

Interesting considering who his teammates are.

"I'm the leader of the team, and I'll make sure there's no slippage."

When exactly was Lebron named Captain? who appointed him the 'leader' besides himself?

I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

So? Have you watched the "Road to Redemption" documentary? He's the vocal leader and tells everyone what to do, and everyone views him that way. Coach K even told him to be a leader. Stop trying to start something out of nothing.

Natural Born Leader

But it's not like guys like Kobe or Kidd have no say...they respect each other a lot.

I don't have a single problem with anything LeBron is saying or doing. Whatever he feels he needs to do to help us win, keep it up. Same with everybody else.

What's your gripe with what he said? lol

He's one of the best players this league has, and his play thus far has backed up a LOT.

I'm glad we have natural born leaders, such as 'Bron.

Some lead by mouth, some lead by example. -- There are many diff types of leaders......

He can be a "leader" but how is he '"THE" leader? He hasn't won anything yet, what's he going to say to Kobe Bryant or Dwayne Wade? they can both tell him to F off until he wins a ring.

How is that hard to understand? He's a great presence that guides all the others, and he's becoming the best player in the NBA. (If not already) He's earned the respect of every member of the team. If a person wins a championship but no one likes or respects him or just sucks at leading, then you would think he's a better fit than Bron?

I am glad they don't feel the same way you do. There is nothing wrong with what he said, you are reading way too much into this. LeBron is a leader, Wade, Kobe, and Kidd everyone respects everyone. They have said multiple times they check their ego's at the door. Why are you trying to bash him?

If hes saying he is THE leader, then he is.
Lebron has never had a dillusional view of himself, and has backed up everything with his play.

That's not the point, isn't it a tad bit arrogant, if not rude for him to appoint himself the leader of a team full of great players? Why can't it just be him being one of the leaders, why does he have to make it a point to proclaim himself THE leader?

I can just imagine Lebron trying to guide Kobe or give him advice on something. Two huge ego's going at it.

Because, he IS. It's not him proclaiming it himself, the Coach appointed him to be the leader, and every single person in that room follows LeBron. It's not that complicated.

but why does he have to say he's the leader ofthe team? Seriously what is he going to say to Kobe? Kobe can just whip out his 3 rings and say STFU essentially, if he wanted to.

Yes, yes he does on Team USA. You're blind if you don't see that. Go watch the documentary, you don't even know what you're talking about and just trying to start something.

I'm just glad the actual players aren't concerned with any petty BS like this.

"I'm the leader!"

"No, I'M the leader!"

As long as we get that gold, who really cares? Obviously it isn't an issue, or we wouldn't be playing with as much cohesion as we are.

judging by everything...the quotes from people on the team, from seeing the road to redemption series, substitution patters, amounts of minutes played....everything seems to point at Lebron being the leader, vocal and on the court ...also anchors defensively and being the main playmaker.

the only guy I'd say even has an argument over Lebron at being the best leader on the team is Dwyane Wade..
