Re: Corvus Crow's State of the 'Hawks
Coutu missed a pair of his Field Goal attempts today... He's gonna get FG duty for the game, so hope he can rebound or Mare is gonna be our more expensive short termed alternative. Although I think Mare would have a great year, I do think the young cheap guy is obviously more preferable if performing well.

At this point, I'd rather have Mare than Coutu. Coutu looked terrible on kickoffs...either hit it short or hit a linedrive that gave the returner plenty of time. Mare has a good, strong leg when it comes to kickoffs, and I don't see Coutu or Mare being any better than the other when it comes to field goals.

Guys don't forget about Jon Carlson. At this point we're relying on his or Jeb Puzier to get it done at TE. I really think Jon will excell in our kind of offense.

I don't think we're really relying on Putzier at all...Heller should be the 2nd TE.

Forsett looks good. Very good. And not just as a running back...if the team can't risk using Burleson as a return man anymore because of WR health issues, I think they're fine using Forsett. He's goddamn quick, shifty, and seems pretty hard to just bring down to the ground.
He's had his fair share of moment where I just couldn't believe what he did. He had a great run where he bounced off some tacklers along the sideline and then sent the safety's mouthpiece flying, and he just had a hard run down the middle where he hurdled a tackler and then dragged a defender five yards into the endzone.
I don't care what level of competition he's played against here in the second half...he looks great.
I guess to update this point, Mare's had two touchbacks, three kicks returned from a few yards deep endzone, and one that made it to the five yard line. Coutu's looked good on his 4 FG today, but not any better than Mare did the other day. If they're more or less equal in terms of FG, but Mare can help prevent teams like Chicago from using weapons like Hester...Mare's gotta be the pick.

forsett seems to have had a monster game. i kinda agree with you on mare v/s coutu but boy did coutu have a great game, 5/5(including 46,48 yarders) and hitting the game winner in overtime nonetheless. nice to see some clutchness even if its preseason

15 carries, 136 yards. I would have expected Forsett to do something like that for Cal against, oh I don't know, Washington, but in the NFL? How do they not keep this guy?

I have no idea what do at RB. While Duckett may seem like the odd man out, he did prove useful in a 4th and short and a goalline stand, able to get that one yard that was often elusive last season. But you have to find a way to keep Forsett...

Re: Corvus Crow's State of the 'Hawks
Mare prolly has it sealed up.
Forsett has to Stay, I mean is there any way you cut this guy? So yeah, I'm guessing Duckett and his contract look like the cut. I think on 3-1 we should be letting 0-Schmitt a look. I'd like to see them use him preseason for that duty so we can get a feel for how he'd do. Wish we didn't have to give up either.
I didn't get a chance actually see the game. I know Kent was involved in some good and some bad plays. Anyone have an analysis of his play?

I wouldn't think Schmidt on 3 and 1, so much as Weaver w/ Schmidt at FB. I think Weaver's the stronger runner, while Schmidt's probably the stronger run blocker.
I'm sold. Cut Duckett. Keep Forsett. I can't be the only one who thinks Forsett looks/performs like a clone of Maurice Jones-Drew...
