When will Otis fill out our roster?

Post#1 » by Cigamodnalro » Sun Aug 17, 2008 2:28 pm

Think it will be in the coming days, or right before training camp?

Right now it's as if the whole league has taken a time-out to watch the Olympics.

I hope it will be soon. I would like to see a trade before the beginning of the season. Maybe trade onr of the SG and a Mediocre PF that we have for either a como PF/C or a PG. That is just a dream though. I have no preferences on who gets traded just want something to happen to round out the roster.

No reason to fill it out yet.

If we're lucky, we'll get another PG and a legit PF/C who could be a solid defensive presence. We'll probably let Bogans or JJ go for the PG. The PF seems like a long shot right now. The salary cap isnt friendly for the Magic right now, but it seems logical for the Magic to use the trade exception before the season starts. They wont break the bank for another PG, but the trade exception could come in handy for another big.

Smith said the Magic may not fill all 15 slots.

When camps start, flexibility may be very important should a need become available.

Otis said that he would most likely leave one roster spot open for flexibility. In case they need a FA vet during the season or there is a trade. Looks like our 15th man is gonna be a phantom.

It really sounds like Otis is done and maybe thinking that Lee could be a switch hitter SG/PG the same for Pietrus and to some degree Bogans and he is happy with the PF slot with Battie coming back. Anyways that is what he said a while ago on Battie that is.
BTW the exception expires in Feb since it was issued by Dallas to the Nets and now the Magic.

I posted an update from HoopsWorld on the thread Official Magic Off Season Thread where it says that the Magic roster is set and yes Redick stays on the team. Considering the source take it or leave it.

I just don't see a need to lock up the roster at this point. Keeping some flexibility right now is pretty important...especially since lots of things can happen in camp and exhibition games.

Anyone picked up now as a FA is gonna have little or no impact anyway.

Otis is happy with the roster...however, I'm sure that we will pick up a 3rd PG before the season starts via trade or picking up a camp invitee or such...

It sounds more and more like Otis Smith is happy the way the team is setup and I don't see the Magic filling that last spot on the rooster. Plus you have to remember the team is all so close to the lux cap and there is no way the Magic are going over that cap.
