Celtics almost got Finley

Too bad. He would have been a great Posey replacement. Good to see Ainge still working on the roster.

Too bad, I really hoped we'd get him - I had hoped we'd add a little more star power this off season, as old as he may be. I think we need another shooter.

Wow, a LOT rides on Tony Allen next year. Not sure I'm comfortable with that.

But, Finley isn't really what we need, a big 3 defender or a long big man.

I think Giddens/Walker have some pressure on them too, they are taking roster spots away from potential vets that we could use. Maybe Giddens can provide what Finley would have??? That's what we're left with.

Hmm, I wonder now that finley is gone another shoe will drop as we move on. But not many people left out there now, right? Maybe Bonzi, that could be good, but he is an ass...

Tony Allen CAN be better than Michael Finley next season by leaps and bounds.

Will he be? TBD

On one hand he would have been a nice pick-up given what he brings to the table relative to his salary. On another hand, Relative to our roster and what Finley doesn't bring to the table, I don't think we would have been well off guaranteeing him regular minutes or any kind of consistent role, and you can't snag a vet like that away from the Spurs without giving him a regular role. Well, I mean you can, but IMO the situation could have gotten messy in respects if things didn't work great. So I'm not disappointed at all.

If Tony is driving nicely and playing consistent he can be better overall than Finley, I guess, but that's really unproven. And he'll never shoot like Finley.

Right now, House is the only player outside the big 3 on the entire roster who is a proven shooter. That's a problem.

I think this was a deal Danny left on the table a while ago. I'm not completely convinced he was actively pursuing Finley anymore but he had this offer out when they were dealing with the Posey situation. If Finley had agreed Danny would've taken him I'm sure but even though he declined I don't think Danny is still going down a list of other players he wants anymore. I do think he's otherwise content to go in with what we have.

What kind of player is Bobby Jones? He has bounced around all over the place but from what I have see of him he seems like a solid defensive minded SF who can shoot the 3 a little. Obviously not a grizzled vet but I don't know that we need that at least not in NOV, we just need a Scal antidote.

They talk about Jones in this article. Just about how he bounced around.

I think I'd prefer a hungry marginal talent than some entitled ass like George. Plus they could give him a non-guaranteed deal in case someone gets cut.

Bobby Jones has game, he just needs a fair shot to stick... kinda doubt there's a place for him on Boston, though. It'd probably be a similar case of other, proven and more highly regarded players in front of him, again.

Bonzi's not washed up, he's still pretty good. He played realtively well last season up to G2 of the Spurs series. He didn't play well against the Spurs because he didn't get the shot oppurtunities and minutes he needs (outside of G1) to be around his best, and the Spurs defense (main guy being Udoka) shut him down after G1.

Thing is he doesn't stretch the floor, and is an average mid-range shooter, semi-reliable 3PT shooter (doesn't take many).

I think you guys will get George, though. He's the closest to Posey.

Well not at the moment we don't have a true back up SF at all and none of the guys on our bench are anymore established than Jones, they are actually a bunch of 2nd and 3rd year guys for the most part. The real issue is that Boston only has a 10-15 mpg role. Posey got more mins but he played a lot of 4, mins that will likely go to Powe and Davis.

Bonzi's attitude is shaky at the best of times and if he isn't getting mins it will be a disaster.

I don't now what is up with George he would seem like a decent fit but I don't now that he is a better player than Bobby Jones at this point. Jones seems like a player every team wants and just can't find mins or a roster spot for and George seems like a player nobody wants unless it is simply a money issue.
