Bella needs to give it a rest. All this whining looks very bad on him and on NBC.

What do you guys in the US think of NBC's coverage of the Olympics? I occasionally flip to NBC and I notice they keep showing events that are from the day before.

Bogut is going crazy against Lithuania. 19 points shortly after halftime. 3/3 from three.

Sucks that one of China's national heros Liu Xiang had to pull out of the hurdles event because he's injured. There was dead silence after he left and the race started.

If its NBC, then its not a surprise.
On another note, Bolt looked smooth in his first 200m run.
i didnt think it was great either. well at least it didnt look good to me. but im no expert and dont know the difficulties.

Yeah.... he didn't get to defend his gold. Damn shame. I've been hearing all year about injuries, seems like they were serious. Hopefully he'll recover and get back to form, but it must be terribly disappointing for him not to be able to defend his gold on the biggest stage.

one chinese gymnast landed on her knee, and still got 15.5.
or didnt that count?
It was the North Korean and she landed out of bounds, and landed out of bounds again on the second attempt. Yet, still got gold. The German got robbed.
Edit- Nevermind, I saw it again, Cheng Fei landed on her knees. She shouldn't have medaled.

Poor Shawn Johnson. She gets the unlucky first draw in the floor exercise, throws down an awesome routine, holds first throughout the entire competition and then loses it to the last Gymnast competing in the event, who was not expected to medal. She must feel sick. That is not the way to lose. Getting her hopes up and then getting her heart ripped out, that's terrible.

Ya. But she seems like one of those super mature girls despite of her innocent face and age, so I think she'll be fine.

I hope she wins the beam (I think she will), I'd hate for her to be the Buffalo Bills of the Olympics.

It wouldn't have mattered if she hadn't, the former record was hers anyways...But its always nice to break the WR at the olympics...The biggest stage for any athlete...
Not sure if it was easy though, she used all 3 of her tries. But you could definitely sense she was going to beat it, as she kept getting closer with every try.

I watched her live when she broke the pole vault record last month at 5.04 and what she's doing is unbelievable dominance.

Isinbayeva is one of the greatest performers I've ever seen. She had the WHOLE crowd eating out of the palm of her hand throughout, and when she cleared the World Record on her final attempt, the crowd was going nuts. I mean, not just Russian fans were cheering for her, but the ENTIRE CHinese crowd as well as all the other fans from other nations. I've almost never seen an athlete have the whole world cheering for her before, not even Bolt or Phelps got such loud cheers when they accomplished their feats.
Really great atmosphere, built up by a fantastic crowd worker. You guys should see it when they replay it throughout this afternoon.

Another controversy?
U.S. Gymnast Liukin Gets Silver After Tie for First With He
By Erik Matuszewski
Aug. 18 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. gymnast Nastia Liukin said she was disappointed after a judging decision gave China's He Kexin the gold medal in the women's uneven bars at the Beijing Olympics even though they finished with the same score.
The gymnasts and their coaches were at first confused by the ruling, in which the judges broke the tie by awarding the gold medal to 16-year-old He based on a new scoring system.
Liukin and He had posted scores of 16.725. Under the new scoring format, judges use a count-back system where the highest and lowest of the five officials' marks are removed one by one until a winner emerges. Scoring was revamped for this Olympics following judging controversies at the 2004 Games.
``I'm a little disappointed, just knowing that I tied,'' Liukin told reporters. ``It wasn't that I got second by three or five points. I had the same exact score and that makes it a little bit harder to take. Unfortunately you can't control the judges. It's all up to them.''

Pfft, I didn't even feel Liukin deserved to win the all-around title. Shawn Johnson was better in that, so it goes to show this kind of thing is just too subjective and not worth complaining about.
