What would be the most equal finals match in '08-09'

Post#1 » by JordansBulls » Mon Aug 18, 2008 8:58 pm

What would be the most evenly matched finals in '08-09'? Which two teams from either conference would be on the same exact level and most balanced?

This doesn't have to be the two best teams, but teams that resemble one another and are virtually equal.

Here are a few of my choices:
1) Boston vs Houston
2) Boston vs LA Lakers
3) Spurs vs Pistons
4) Suns vs Sixers
5) Hornets vs Pistons
6) Mavs vs Cavs

some matchups I would like to see and believe they would go to 6/7 games

San Antonio Spurs vs. Boston Celtics (Defending champs vs. odd year dynasty)

Phoenix Suns vs. Detroit Pistons (Suns new halfcourt offense against the perennially good defensive Pistons team)

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Cleveland Cavaliers (Two of the best players in the league)

Houston Rockets vs. Boston Celtics/Detroit Pistons (Prolly end up like the Spurs vs Pistons finals)

Don't think the Hornets and Pistons would be a good finals- Detroit matches up pretty well against NO, and the Hornets seems to struggle with them.

People don't like to watch defensive grind out half court offense type finals, I do.
- Spurs vs. Celtics
- Lakers vs. Celtics
- Rockets vs. Celtics
- Spurs vs. Pistons

Those would be my 4.

I like the Hornets vs Magic match-up. I think they could develop a solid young rivalry, and a refreshing finals after years of Pistons, Spurs, and Lakers.

Jazz Celtics would be a good match up I think.

The Jazz blew out the Celtics in Boston, and Boston edged a close victory out in Salt Lake where the Jazz were nearly unbeatable all year.

That would be a hell of a series.

It's got to be the Sixers/Lakers. Everyone remember the buzz in 2001? While Philly doesn't have Allen Iverson. It does have one of the most complete starting lineups in Philly recent history. And the Sixers D would be a great matchup for the Lakers O. Sammy doesn't matchup well to Bynum, but Brand can handle that. And Sam can try his hand at Gasol. Offensively the Sixers potentially have 3 15 PPG guys.

It'd be a historic series and alot more tight then the Boston/Lakers. It may have been "4-2". But it could've easily been 4-1.

Curb stomped? nah, I think it might be a pretty good series, but I think the Hornets would win in less than 7, in our two games this season, the Magic escaped the first one with Chris Paul absent and Tyson Chandler going down early in the second quarter(with 8 rebounds) and we won the second game despite shooting 40% to the Magic's 50%.
