Re: relevant/irrelevant teams..
Of most relevance to me this particular season:
1. Miami Heat - Favorite team, favorite player.
2. Bucks, Pacers, Hawks, Bulls, Nets, Bobcats - These teams will all be fighting my Heat for a playoff spot, therefore they are all extremely relevant to me
3. Hornets - I love Chris Paul to Tyson Chandler
4. Boston Celtics - Still the favorites to come out of the East, and likely the team that will be playing the Heat in the 1st round of the playoffs.
5. Cleveland Cavaliers/Los Angeles Lakers - LeBron v. Wade and Kobe v. Wade is always awesome.
6. Phoenix Suns - Man do I love to watch Steve Nash play, and Amare is a beast.
7. New York Knicks - I will continue to keep an eye on them, hopefully they continue to suck and there will never be a repeat of the 1999 playoffs. Ever.
8. San Antonio - It is incredible how Tim Duncan is able to do it year in and year out. This year could be a final hurrah.
9. Houston Rockets - Interested to see how Artest/Yao/T-Mac gel, and if T-Mac will make it out of the 1st
10. LA Clippers - BoomDizzle AKA BDiddy is my third favorite player behind Wade and CP3.
11. Detroit Pistons - Heat vs. Pistons is a decent enough rivalry
12. Dallas Mavericks - See #11.
13. Golden State Warriors - I still love them for beating the Mavericks that year. Can Monta lead?
14. Portland Trailblazers - How will Oden be? Will this team blossom and make noise?
15. Orlando Magic/Washington Wizards - Division rivals.
16. Toronto Raptors - Kapono is my favorite player on this team. Sad, I know.
17. 76ers - Ehh...they will make the playoffs, but not much else, IMO.
18. Denver Nuggets - The lack of defense makes me sick with the talent they have.
19. OKC - Durant.
20. Minnesota - Corey Brewer and Mike Miller (I'm a Gator)
21. Memphis - You traded Mike Miller?? NOOOO!!! I hate you guys now. OJ Mayo's cool I guess.
22. Utah Jazz - Always manage to make noise and bore the hell out of me at the same time. Okur lulls me to sleep.
24. Sacramento - Who?? Oh, Kevin Martin, and, oh wait, I can't name another player on your team.

No mention of the Knicks on your list- done on purpose?
The teams I watch more and are most relevant to me (from most to least):
1) Boston: Celtic fan my entire life
2) LA: Kobe, and fun to watch their offense
3) New Orleans:- Love Paul's game, and like West
4) Detroit, Cleveland: The only 2 teams in the East that can beat the Celts in the playoffs, and obviously there's Lebron
5) San Antonio: Like the defense, always a threat to win the title
6) Houston Rockets- McGrady, Yao, now Artest- should be the style of play that's most fun: tough defense, good offense
7) Phoenix Suns: Lots of things wrong with the team, but they're exciting
8) Miami, Minnesota: Interested to see how Wade/Beasley/Marion does, and have always like Big Al and Gomes.
9) Chicago: Out of all the team boards I've visited- this is by far the best: active, few trolls, and a lot of good posters
10) Orlando, Washington, Philly Good teams- been following the Wizards more closely since when Jordan was on their team
11) Toronto: I visit the board during the season from time to time because it's a) busy and b) amusing. And I like Bosh.
12) Atlanta: Young, and found the whole Horford/Pierce exchange in the playoffs funny
13) Dallas: Even though Kidd's old- I've always respected his game, and the fact that the Nets always owned us in the playoffs
14) Denver, Golden State: Fast paced teams, can be exciting.
15) Portland: Oden.
16) Utah: The best team to have fallen this far on the list- mainly because I dislike watching Boozer.
Irrelevant (from least to most):
1) New Jersey- Never cared for Carter that much (though I still watch him because of all the comparisons between how good he is and Pierce), and the main reason I used to watch them was Kidd.
2) Charlotte: Almost relevant because I've been watching May and Felton since they were in college- but besides that, they're just not interesting to watch
3) Memphis: Memphis might move up a little, only because I'm interested in seeing how Mayo does.
4) Clippers: Can be a decent team, just don't appeal to me.
5) Sacramento, Indiana, New York: Like Brandon Rush, but that's not enough to keep Indiana out of irrelevant. As for the Kings- just don't follow them. And the Knicks- too many chuckers.
Damn

Re: relevant/irrelevant teams..
Damn, kinda hard to rank which teams I find MOST/LESS relevant. Instead, i'll just post the order of which teams come up in my mind.
1. Golden State Warriors - Representing the Bay Area and what we're all about. It always seems like we're overlooked and misunderstood out here, both music wise and in the NBA. Dad taught me to root for the underdogs. While the Warriors were the laughingstock of the league and were in a playoff drought, people in the Bay started rooting for either the Lakers or Kings but I decided to stick with my n*ggas on the Warriors. Not to say that people in the Bay are fair weathered fans, the Warriors still had hella fans back in their drought.
Jason Richardson was also a guy that had me rooting for them hard, the guy was underrated as hell. I can type up hella paragraphs on how much this guy was loyal to the franchise. His character was my inspiration and I don't give a f*ck if it sounds corny or not. I got hella other reasons for this team but I don't wanna flood this ****.
2. Boston Celtics - How can I forget the champions? The team pops up in my mind right away, the path to their 17th (?) championship makes for a great historical story. Paul Pierce had me laughing when he said he's the best player in the world. Just because you won Finals MVP doesn't make you better than Kobe. That's like saying that Tony Parker is better than LeBron James because the Spurs swept the Cavaliers.
3. Los Angeles Lakers - A know a lot of ANNOYING Lakers fans here in the Bay Area. I really do think that the Lakers are such an easy bandwagon team that it leads to a lot of idiots becoming fans. I'm not saying that LAL fans are all bad, i've met a lot of great people who root for the Lakers; i'm just saying that with LAL it's either a knowledgeable fan or a clueless individual rooting for them just because "KOBE!!" is on the team. Especially when you're here in the Bay, there be hella Warriors/Lakers rivalries between people. And it's crazy when you're a Warriors fan and you're arguing with a Lakers fan who knows nothing about basketball, all they do is scream "KOBEEE!!!".
Example, Myspace convo between me and some clueless Laker fan here in the Bay.

this isn't the same warriors team that people are so accustomed to seeing. we aint the laughingstock of the league anymore. we winning now.

ME- Dec 30, 2007 8:41 PM
wow bruh stop bein hella ignorant.
How you gonna say that we aint winning, and not even have anything to say to back up your statement.
The Warriors have a winning record right now at 18-13. That's 5 games above .500 and we won 18 out of our last 25 games ever since our 0-6 start. That's a 18-7 record in recent games which means we're playing winning basketball as of late.
And we already have 10 wins on the road right now, when we only won a total of 12 road wins all last season. Not only are we winning, but we're improving as the season progresses as well.
You just need to stop being biased towards your opinion and realize that the Golden State Warriors are no longer the losing team that everyone was so accustomed to seeing for the past 12 years. It's a whole new era of Warriors basketball that you're witnessing right now.
The Lakers are good, i'll admit. But you hella bringing the Warriors into this by labeling us as a **** team.

3. Los Angeles Clippers - Baron Davis knew that Chris Mullin wouldn't have given him a contract extension; instead, he found a team dumb enough to pay him $65 million over the next 5 years. It should be obvious why the Clippers are now relevant to me, the Warriors' savior went back to LA and is now leading another underdog team. Even though Maggette and Brand are gone, the Clips are lookin real good. Baron Davis, Eric Gordon, Al Thornton, Chris Kaman, Marcus Camby, Jason Williams, Cuttino Mobley, Ricky Davis etc. They also got a great young talent in DeAndre Jordan who might learn a lot by having Camby as a mentor. The squad seems to have a small window of playoff opportunity with BD and Camby, but there's no doubt in my mind that they will be entertaining and has a great future.
BD will bring that swag to the franchise and will hopefully make them respectable. There's no doubt in my mind that Baron will play at least 75 games this season. I remember last offseason, a poster named CupcakeNoFillin argued with everyone on the General Board about how Baron isn't injury prone anymore; CNF took a lot of heat from those arguments but Baron ended up playing all 82 games like CNF said he would. And it wasn't just a biased guess that CNF made, he actually had good reasons behind his arguments too.
4. Charlotte Bobcats - Jason Richardson is my hero and my favorite player. Nuff said, I don't give a **** what you think about that. "Why not Michael Jordan? Why not Magic?" **** em.
Sure, J-Rich may not go down in history as one of the best ever. Sure, he's not even in the top 10 in today's game. It's just that the dedication and heart that he showcased as a Warrior had me inspired. He's my hero because of all the perseverance and hard work he'd put in for GSW, true underdog. It's like an equivalent of when you see a single parent working multiple jobs just to put food on the table for his family. Good luck in NC homie.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FLYIfbiSt4
5. Orlando Magic- This team popped into my mind as I mentioned J-Rich and began to remember the rest of the former Warriors. Adonal Foyle was the man back in the 2007 'We Believe' team. You had all those "badasses" like BD and Stephen Jackson, those funny class clowns like Mickael Pietrus, Al Harrington, Andris Biedrins etc., and then you have the old veteran Warrior Adonal Foyle being the politician and likeable poet on the team. Good luck in Orlando buddy, hope your democracy projects or whatever go well.
Mickael Pietrus!! Man, ima miss that guy like hell. Easily the class clown on the Warriors, I remember him jumping in the Oracle Arena crowd like a rockstar when the Warriors finished eliminating Mavericks. Charles Barkley saw that and was all like, "Man, that's doing too much for just getting out of the first round". Who cares, it's Mickael Pietrus! Ronny Turiaf will never replace my boy Mickael as the 'Funny French Guy on the Warriors'. Even if Ronny turns out even more hilarious, Mickael still set the bar. Dude has the funniest interviews ever, even though he recently came from France to be in the NBA he still managed to beat my boy Bob Fitzgerald in a game of scrabble. LMFAO. Good luck in Orlando buddy.. you, Dwight and Foyle will have block parties there on the court together.

6. Phoenix Suns - Matt Barnes..... *tear*.
Ima miss this guy, I still can't believe that we let him go just to see him sign for the minimum on another team. Damn, it's great and all to free up minutes for Anthony Randolph and Kelenna Azubuike, but the heart of Matt Barnes was crazy man.
When Matt Barnes played for the Philadelphia 76ers, he took a lot of heat from his coach. During practice, Maurice Cheeks saw Matt practicing three's and straight up yelled at him. Mo told Matt not to practice long range shots, and that his game belongs in the post. Matt had a miserable career in the NBA, during the 2006 offseason he was close to giving up. He had a couple NFL training camp invites and he was contemplating on accepting. He was an All-American in football during his high school years, and in his NBA career he decided that maybe he's better off as an NFL player. Barnes didn't have much hope in basketball, but still managed to maintain faith; he went to a local tattoo shop and decided to get the word "BELIEVE" inked on his neck.
One offseason afternoon, he's playing a pick up game at a gym and Don Nelson spots him on the court. Don Nelson had made a return to the NBA as he just finished signing a contract to start coaching the Golden State Warriors. He caught Matt's ability to handle the ball, and decided that he could be a good addition to the team. Barnes ended up being the last guy to make it on the Golden State Warriors.
Who would have predicted the moments that would soon happen throughout the season for this guy.
Matt Barnes quickly proved himself as an important player for the team, making his way into the regular rotation. He outperformed the former 3rd overall pick, Mike Dunleavy, on the court. Matt Barnes even had a 36 point game against the Grizzlies. One of the most memorable moments for him in the regular season, was when he played against his former team, the Sixers. He had to face the team of the coach who told him he's not a shooter. What does Matt do? He makes 7 three's in the game and leads the team in scoring with 25 points. When he made his last three, he looked over at Maurice Cheeks and grinned, knowing damn well that he proved his old coach wrong.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyAE-_gJv94
Matt was also one of the many characters that helped create the "We Believe" vibe on the team. The group was full of underdogs that were striving for recognition and respect. As you all know they eventually made a HUGE improbable run (if you don't think it was a big improvable, run then say something) to make the playoffs and shocked the world. Matt Barnes only made a total of 19 three's in his career before being a Warrior, but in his first season in Golden State he made over 100 three's including key shots in the NBA playoffs, as his team pulled off the greatest upset in NBA history.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLavoaV0b68
He even made the biggest shot of Game 4 in that series. Seems so fitting that the tattoo Matt got on his neck years ago became a reality when he was a Warrior.
In the 2007-2008 season he was named a tri-captain for the Golden State Warriors. Unfortunately, Matt didn't do great that season and as a result he's on a different team signed to a low contract. This may have happened because of certain incidents.
Hopefully he finds his niche in Phoenix. He has a great group of guys out there that will take pressure off of him. He'll be able to ease himself back into a great role player, without the pressure of being one of the "best" performers on the team like he was expected to be for GS in 07-08.

- - Matt's mom died early that season, and the emotion of it all may have affected his play:
- Matt didn't get the contract that he hoped for in the 2007 offseason, he even fired his agent and got a new one; maybe him not getting his money caused him not to try anymore.
- Like I just mentioned, Matt was named a tri-captain. I think him being recognized as a leader on the team resulted in him not trying anymore. Back then, he always was looking for respect, but now that he was named a captain it's like there was nothing he can try to "prove" anymore.
Hopefully he finds his niche in Phoenix. He has a great group of guys out there that will take pressure off of him. He'll be able to ease himself back into a great role player, without the pressure of being one of the "best" performers on the team like he was expected to be for GS in 07-08.
