Re: Post your 2012 Olympic Roster
I like what they have with the select team. I'd go with mostly the select team and a few holdovers from this summer:
pg: Deron Williams / Derrick Rose / Rodney Stuckey
sg: Kevin Martin / JR Smith / O.J. Mayo
sf: Jeff Green / Andre Iguodala
pf: Carmelo Anthony / Kevin Durant
c: Amare Stoudamire / LaMarcus Aldridge
I wouldn't take Roy or Oden purely for injury concerns.

PG: Chris Paul/ Deron Williams
SG: Dwyane Wade, Kobe Bryant
SF: Lebron, Carmelo
PF: Bosh, Durant
C: Yao, Oden
Yao is pissed off with China national and becomes a USA citizen.

Re: Post your 2012 Olympic Roster
Deron Williams, Chris Paul, Derrick Rose
Iguodala, Roy
Lebron, Durant
Melo, Jefferson
Howard, Oden, Bynum
I would expect at least one of Lebron or Carmelo to return and play the role of team veteran. Depending on how the younger guys develop, this may be a team in danger of being upset in the tournament. I don't think 2012 will be as strong as the 2008 team, and the international competition will just keep getting stronger.

James should be in the team again.
Don't think Melo should.

Obviously, a lot of these young guys are "unpolished" right now, but I'm assuming that in four years, Rose, Mayo, Lebron, Wade and Durant will all have consistent 3 pt range. Add in Martin and that should be enough outside shooting. Furthermore, it gives us plenty of versatility with Lebron, Durant, Melo, and Beasley able to play PF in international competition, and Rose, Mayo, Wade, and Lebron able to run the team as the PG.
And we certainly wouldn't be lacking in size with two 7 footers, a 6'11 guy, and another 6'10 guy.
Don't forget that Durant is 6'10''.
Personally, it would have been nice to see a guy like Jason Kapono, a real catch-and-shoot specialist on the team. Korver is the same. It would just add a whole different look to this team of mainly finishers and penetrators. On defense, a real brute like Reggie Evans to just roam the paint the and collect boards would have been cool. It's a shame Chandler got hurt.
Real role players, and not manufactured ones like Bosh and Kobe, would allow the stars to be themselves.
Forgot to list him as a 6'10 guy but I did factor in that he can slide to PF. As for the rest of the guys you mentioned, while guys like Kapono and Korver are good offensively as catch and shoot guys, they will have no place on a team like the USA defensively. We certainly wouldn't be able to pressure as much with those guys, especially when you throw in a big oaf like Evans out there too.

Pretty much bang on although I'd have Wade and Howard starting over Roy and Oden. In 4 years time that '03 draft class will all be in their prime at around 27/28 years of age and should definitely be the main focus of the team. Durant vs. Melo at the backup 3 position is also debatable but since I'm not a Melo fan I'll endorse your KD choice
Actually Wade is older than most of the guys from that class, he's going to be 30+ I believe by 2012 of August..?

I doubt Wade comes back because of his age, (he'll be 30) plus with his style of play, i dont think he'd want any extra wear-n-tear. Melo seems to love playin for the Team, i just dont see him turning down an invitation. I dont see Bosh or Bron doing it again either
Like your Roster. Dont know about big al starting at PF, dont know if he is good enough defensively for international play. Id stick with Bosh and If he doesnt want to come back Id go with Amare before Al.

Re: Post your 2012 Olympic Roster
I think Lebron will be there. I think he enjoys the experience and it's great exposure from a marketing standpoint.
Is it a given that Kobe won't be playing in 2012? He seems to enjoy it a lot and he said himself that a Gold medal is more important to him than an NBA ring. He'll only be like 33 by then. He should still be playing at a superstar level at that age with his skillset.

All I know is, if we don't bring Oden, Bynum, AND D12... we're (Please Use More Appropriate Word).
Horford at the PF is a must.
So isn't Roy, Durant, LeBron, Deron, Wade, Carmelo, Bosh, and CP3.

Beasley, just because of the style of play. Beasley is the perfect player! Look at how he preformed for the U19 team.
Oden-Horford
Beasley-Josh Smith
Melo-Durant
Roy-Kevin martin
Paul-DWill
