Ross doesn't have any 3 point range in my opinion.

HEhehe.... I wish them honest luck with signing him.
hahah im glad, i was actually mad that they were able to convince a player to come over and were losing them left and right.

unless udoka is on his way out, we just dont have room thou, and if we sign him with bruce and ime it might be too much of one thing at the same position.

Doesn't surprise me they signed him, that'll be a pretty nice pick-up, I think... he's like a smaller, less emotional, more agile Turiaf with a better shot.

Demitris Nichols - total unknown at the nba level. moderate athlete, good shooter coming out, not much else.
at this point, finley is probably the best option for wing depth. would have rather kept barry, but it wasnt meant to be.

Devin's a better athlete and offensive creator than Udoka, for sure. I've seen too much of the latter for it to be insignificant. Not as good a shooter as Udoka. Wasn't aware of that suspension in Cleveland. Defensively and rebounding the edge goes to Ime, but Devin still isn't ordinary in either aspect himself (especially rebounding).
ss1986v2 wrote:Fred Jones - a bit too small considering our current back court. ok outside shot, ok finisher, next to no mid-range game.
Yeah, he was around the bottom of my list.
ss1986v2 wrote:Demitris Nichols - total unknown at the nba level. moderate athlete, good shooter coming out, not much else.
Of course he's unknown because he hasn't had any oppurtunity outside of pre-season and garbage time here and there. Basically been forced like that with the other players in front of him, and not as highly regarded.
From what I've read and seen a bit, he's an adequate slasher and isn't a liability defensively, also. Good size on the wing. I think he'll be a solid role-player, rotation guy somewhere eventually. Obviously his strength is shooting, but indications are he can do other things effectively, and isn't bad at them.
ss1986v2 wrote:Kirk Snyder - good athlete, solid rebounder, no jump shot (64% of his attempts came at the rim, went 22 for 71 on everything else).
Oh yeah, still a big supporter of this guy, and I still think it's all about getting the oppurtunity for Snyder. He hasn't really had a consistent chance yet for various reasons. Indications are he doesn't have the attitude problems anymore like in the first couple years, it's also been a couple injuries, and then already proven guys already in front of him in the rotation. Forcing him deep to the bench (Houston).
Don't know if he'll ever get the kind of oppurtunity he needs, in the NBA, but I think given that chance, he can succeed, as has been shown in a handful of stretches with New Orleans, Houston (first year), and Minnesota. Jumpshooting-wise, from what I've seen, he's inconsistent (three and mid-range), but given his lack of oppurtunity more than actually having one, over his career - could, will his jumpshot improve and become positively established to an effective level, with more consistent playing time? Only one way to find out, and that's for him to play decent minutes on a regular basis.
Kirk's also a significant defensive player, and has above-average interior scoring ability (driving, posting up, offensive rebounding).
With us, maybe not within this season, but I think within the next year and a half he could of come on and stuck.
I just really like what he can be as a big, tough, athletic multi-dimensonal wing-player.
Obviously those guys aren't relevant for us anymore, though.

Gordon seemingly done in Chicago
http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wireta ... the_bulls/
Wonder where he'll end up?
I'm going to sway to him staying in the NBA, though.
Ben Gordon took a step towards closure with the Chicago Bulls over failed negotiations on Friday when he told Chris Broussard from ESPN the Magazine that he has played his last game representing the Windy City.
"I guess it's safe to say I've played my last game in a Bulls uniform," Gordon said.
Gordon's agent, Raymond Brothers, said he has been speaking to other teams about sign and trade possibilities, while Europe also remains an option for the Bulls' leading scorer. Gordon said he will not accept the team's qualifying offer worth $6.4 million for one season, allowing him to become an unrestricted free agent in 2009-2010.
"I'm pretty optimistic it'll happen," said Gordon, who averaged 18.6 points last season. "It's very likely."

Strawberry in doubt with Suns: http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wireta ... with_suns/
I'd love to get him on this team... smaller guard, but still, he has game on both sides of the ball, just needs more time eventually. I think he's a good athletic utility prospect. He showed some great flashes in Phoenix.
Watch him go overseas, though, heh

Nice move by the Hornets to bring back Devin Brown... improves their bench solidly
Still questionable at back-up PG (Mike James form?) and pretty lacking up front, though
Also Demetris Nichols stays with the Bulls: http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=229392&src=150

Hornets sign the Marks Show
http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wireta ... ean_marks/
Be interesting to see how much he helps their big man depth (none outside of Hilton Armstrong, who needs to and probably should emerge), for what he can do... obviously nothing decent on defense and rebounding.

We need a swing man.... with Manu being out. I don't like it what our swing rotation will consist of Finley and Mason.

Re: Offseason thread... MLE,Draft, and all the other stuff...
I know a few others don't, but I still really like bringing in Kirk Snyder (why, I have layed out in a few past posts).
Maybe not playing a lot for this season because of Mason/Finley/Udoka, and aside from getting time while Manu would be out for a bit, he would have to platoon w/ Udoka and Finley/Mason, or over-take one of Finley-Mason/Udoka's spot as the first back-up. Also. it's kinda questionable what Finley's minutes and role situation will be in the regular season. But, next season then put Snyder into a consistent and more significant role, after getting some run and adapting to the team this season. Assuming he wouldn't emerge well this season.
