Series Threads: NY@TOR, BOS@TOR, TOR@TB, TOR@NY

Post#1 » by evilRyu » Tue Aug 19, 2008 1:35 am

Well these series will wind up the month of August, and at that time, we will most likely have a much clearer picture of where we stand in the division. All of these games are against divisional opponents, so if we are to make any type of run, THIS IS THE TIME TO DO IT (gee, it seems like we use that phrase a lot here lol ).

Anyway, the Jays have a respectable 21-20 record against the AL East. Not bad, but not good enough. Conversely, the Rays are 28-19 against the AL East.

Nice game thread evilRyu!

With Boston and Tampa winning tonight, there's that much more pressure to win. Our pitching as of late, and most of the season has been very good. It's right up there with the best in the Majors. Just imagine if we had the hitting earlier in the season, with the pitching we have?? We would be right up there with Tampa and Boston competing for the division.

Even if we don't make the playoffs, it will be a little fun knocking the Yankees and Red Sox out of the playoffs.

Yes that would make us Blue Jay fans quite proud. If were not going, neither are they. ;)

Just looking at the standings, it's weird seeing Tampa at the top of the division. Will we ever see our beloved Blue Jays in the same position?

maybe if we win the first game of the season and we're tied for first they'll be nice enough to list us on top of everyone else 1-0. Hopefully they won't list it alphabetically cuz Baltimore Boston NY and Tampa all come before Toronto.

If you mean being first at this point in the season then I'd say probably not within the next 5 years. The Rays are gonna be good for awhile, and the Red Sox and Yanks have enough money to buy a new roster if they ever start to decline. We're stuck in mediocrity and won't get out without overhauling our roster. Or maybe our current roster will magically learn how to hit consistently for an entire season.

Thanks Peteros......

btw, is anyone else kinda rooting for Boston to win the division, and somehow Tampa dropping out of the playoffs altogether? Believe me, I hate ALL the teams in our division, but the envy in me can't accept the freakin' Rays, who have been the laughing stock since their inception, win the toughest division in baseball, where the Jays have been irrelevant for 15 years. I can stomach another Red Sox/Yankee division win, but it's too weird/awkward for Tampa to win...

^^ I'd rather see Rays win it than either BoSox or Yanks..

But i'd prefer the Jays to win it..

man, when AJ has his curveball going, he's a very dominant pitcher... so far a good game, kind of disappointed that we haven't scored a run against Rasner yet...

The audio was out of sync for the first inning or two, but luckily it's sorted now.

I have a feeling the offense won't show up tonight.

Offense hasn't shown up tonight. It's not like we're going up against an ace pitcher. Rasner is below average. What a waste it would be if AJ loses the game and pitches a gem. 13 K's through 7 innings so far.
