That's not a cornerstone of a real great team but he demands that he is paid like one.

whoa whoa!! do me a favor and don't insult jamal crawford like that. jamal crawford is a far more well-rounded player than ben gordon. gordon as other have noted is a very undersized, 1-dimensional streak shooter with no in-between game. he cant defend, he has virtually no ballhandling skills and he cant create a shot for anyone but himself. the one thing he and crawford DO share is that "gunner" status. these 2 never met a shot they didnt like and they can put up points in a hurry. that said crawford is about 100 times the finisher gordon is. crawford is supremely athletic. hes a pretty solid ballhandler as he was the pg back at Michigan. he can get to the line a bit as well. crawfords a better player than gordon in my mind and its not close.

Gordon's eFG% for Jumpers, last season was .506 and Ray Allen had a .516 eFG% for Jumpers, last year. (Pierce .493, House .524, Posey .536)

I'd say Ben Gordon is a pretty darn good shooter. And it is safe to say that not all Gordon's jumpers are from 3 point land.

I have also watched Gordon play, not just last season, but since he has been in this league, there might be less than 5 players that shoot more mid range jumpers or take difficult degree floating shots while driving towards the rim than Ben Gordon.

^^^ No disagreement there. He is a good shooter. Because of his size he takes alot of tough shots - some of that would be eliminated playing for the C's. But he still costs too much for what he brings.

LOL at someone actually arguing that Ben Gordon isnt a good shooter. Just admit your wrong.

Assanine.

With that, I wont no part of him. Hes not worth the contract he wants. I think Ben Gordon would excel in Cleveland but theres no chance he lands there.

There is no point in arguing over whether Ben friggin Gordon is a good shooter or scorer, if you can't figure that out it is on you.

This the deal with Gordon he is 6'3" and a much better player than Jamal Crawford. His problem is that he struggles taking pgs off the dribble and can struggle defensively against SGs. That said he is a solid defender at the point and can create his own shot off the dribble. Now there is statistical evidence that says he is a much more dominant player coming off the bench than as a starter, so competition has been brought into question. With that question in play it is certainly a risk to throw 8 figures a year at. He reminds me a lot of Jason Terry, stronger and a more explosive scorer but a similiar tweener.

That said I have another take on the situation. Ben Gordon is CHI's number one scoring option and for better or worse they have done nothing to make it easier for him to be that. They want to force feed Deng and Hinrich the #1 role on this team and they are ill suited to handle it. Neither of them is a particularly good shooter or effective scorer.

I like both guys but especially Hinrich is essentially a rich man's Delonte West. A capable player but not a great fit next to Gordon who be better served with a guy who can guard the 2 and slash to the basket. I don't know that you would ever be thrilled with Gordon as a pg but you could compliment him enough to take advantage of the fact that he can score 20 ppg which nobody else on the Bulls roster can do. Even though I wouldn't want to pay his check in a lot of ways Larry Hughes is a nice compliment to Gordon.

At first I really liked what Paxson had done in CHI but since the Eddy Curry situation blew up he has done nothing right. The money he has blown on HInrich, Wallace, and Nocoioni combined with passing on Aldridge and now he can't sign his leading scorer who he has also failed to compliment, with a half decent low post presence and gave another complimentary player a franchise deal.

Let's not get crazy about what Ray Allen is vs. what he was

I don't think Allen to Gordon would be that much of a down grade. I've seen him get into shoot outs with LeBron James. I just like his big game appeal. Obviously enjoyed him at UConn. I just don't think he's in a good situation in Chicago.

Pierce provides a HUGE upgrade over Deng as a slashing/scoring threat.

KG and Perk are far better than any post players the Bulls have.

Oh yea and Rondo is getting pretty good at the drive and dish (even if his floating passes give me heart failure).

I think at 5/$55 we'd be getting a solid value.
