*Mike Conley Jr. info*

Post#1 » by torres213 » Mon Aug 18, 2008 7:42 pm

Hello Griz nation. heat fan here. Its no surprise(at least to me) that Riley would loveto have Conley. I have to admit Im a big fan of him as well. Although i have gotten the impression that he hasnt gotten much PT in MEM and is still seen as a "project" getting bettr with more experience, rather than a player who should be given attention right now. I think anyways.

My qustion is, has he been productive in the little PT hes gotten? has he been geting adequate PT and making big progress up til now? I didnt post this in the trade thread considering thati just wanted some info on the guy. Bt if theres any trade scenarios sendinghim to MIA on that trade board, i would leave to read and take a glance at em! thanks

He's gotten as many minutes as he can handle to this point (was injured for a decent chunk of his rookie campaign) and was fairly productive - shined at times. However, there's nothing that the Heat would be willing to part with that would bring them Conley. Lowry is who the Heat should target. A deal involving Lowry and Haslem might have potential. Dorell Wright is another (though less enticing) possibility.

All due respect, bu theres no way that the HEAT part ways with a big for a small. Especially a small that is reletively unproven against a PF that has won a chip. Now a SF like Wright has more ring to it. Which is y Ive been thinkin as to y Riley has making so many moves with SF'sthese past few weeks.

Well at least you were very respectful in your query which we don't get very often. Unfortunately asking about Conley can only be answered with sarcasm since he is not available. It would be like a Grizz fan going on a Heat board and saying the following.

Howdy there Heat nation, we see where you were contemplating trading that Wade fella for a first overall pick? We can see how you could come to this conclusion as you guys really stunk it up with him and didn't fare much better without him. His judgement must also be questioned as at 13 million a year he could do a lot better than Star Jones. Couple this with the fact that he seems a little injury prone, so Grizz nation would consider, or contemplate taking him in the right deal. We intend to hang on to Rudy Gay, Mayo, Conley, Marc Gasol, and Javaris Critt, but anyone else or combination there of we MIGHT just consider it.

Now that would not go over very well, even if it was very respectful. Of course I know no harm was intended but what if's this are not easy to digest.

No disrespect torres213, but there is no way you guys are getting Mike Conley for anything less than the following; either Wade, Marion, or Beasley.

He had a similar season to Tony Parker (as a rookie) and he was the #4 overall pick last year. I don't care if Haslem is a "big" at 6'8", Conley has more value. There is a ceiling for players like Haslem (who are undersized and have one or two skills they do well) and it's usually low. However, the sky is the limit for young, athletic PG's with sound fundamentals.
