Holy cow! What in the world is going on? Granger!? Freaking Granger can get 80 million or close to it?

This is just sad. You know your team sucks when your best player is Granger.

That's what I used to tell the Pacers fans when they were saying that he is a sure all-star.

No, he isn't. I seriously doubt that he will ever become an all-star. The guy is already 25 years old, 2 years older than Lebron James.

He will be in his prime next season and he hasn't shown anything that says he could be an all-star.

I know he is a hard worker but the Pacers need to calm down.

1. He is a better player than Iggy.
2. Its not like we have anything better to spend our money on.
3. The Pacers fan base needs this. Brian Scalabrine is more likely to be caught at a strip club at 3 am than Danny Granger. He plays hard, does not complain and his behavior off the court is admirable. He is the face of the franchise whether we like it or not and because that, he warrants such a contract.
4. To the first replier, you act like we haven't realized he is our best player. Not every NBA fan has the luxury of rooting for big market teams. Regardless, we make the best of our talent and remain relatively competitive.

That's insane.

Iguadala nor Granger should be paid Wade/LeBron/Howard money.

Hell no!

Overpaid, Iggy got it, and Granger is at least as good. Regardless I wouldn't give him that much but he is a good player.

I actually think he's a better player than Iguodala, despite being less talented.

Iggy is better than him but he got overpaid anyways. Both players don't deserve that type of money.

The wiretap article said his play was worth $11.11 million. At 6 years with max raises thats:

Year 1: $11,110,000
Year 2: $12,276,550
Year 3: $13,443,100
Year 4: $14,609,650
Year 5: $15,776,200
Year 6: $16,942,750

Total: $84,158,250 over 6 years

He is now the face of their franchise with JO gone and has shown improvement every year. With the way salaries are going up nowadays, this is probably his market value.

Good points there, especially the last one. Apparently, every team is supposed to have an unquestionable superstar. It doesn't happen. I think Granger is a breath of fresh air for a Pacers team that has had a lot of bad eggs in the past five years. By no means do I think Granger is worth as much money as Iguodala, but Iguodala himself didn't deserve a contract like that.

Although neither deserves it, if Iggy got it Granger definitely can. I see both as equally talented to each other. Granger keeps improving every year and is Indy's best player. Every team thinks they have found their "superstar" and Indy thinks so, too. Only time will tell if he can turn into one.

That must tell people how good Lebron is. But on topic granger should only get like 9-10 mil a season, no way should he be getting more than that. He just nice on a not so nice team. They will make the playoffs this year though. TJ FTW.

No he isn't. Iggy is a far far far better defender and that alone holds more value than Granger.

I've seen Granger play in a full game several times and he looks nothing like a standout player.

What makes Granger valuable is that he brings it on both ends of the court. He can give you 20+ a night while hitting over 40% from downtown, while also putting up 1+ steal and 1+ block a night from the small forward position.

Iggy's a good overall player, but the only thing he has on Granger is ball handling. That may be enough for Jon Amaechi and Patterns, but it's not enough for me.

After the CBA is reworked in 2010 that contract will actually be considered a bargain.
