He needs to get out the first round before anyone can even call him a true star. He needs to get to the ECF to be a superstar.

superstars are made in the playoffs..Kobe? 3 titles and 2 extra finals appearances..Lebron? led a team to the finals and has pushed better teams to game 7's..Wade? led a team to a title..TD? led a team to 4 titles..KG? just led a team to a title..

Chris Paul just took the Spurs to 7 games in his 1st playoffs..

Bosh needs to make the 2nd round first, and then needs to elevate his game to a new level..something he hasn't been able to do yet..

So does that mean KG wasnt a superstar before this year?
What about TMAC and Yao.

I personally dont think Bosh is a superstar and dont see him being one really...but I think your reasoning is flawed

I don't think Bosh will ever be a true superstar. Im a HUGE bosh fan and Raptor fan but from watching him night in and night out and especially in the playoffs i just dont think he will ever really be on the same level as KG or Duncan. His game will always be one or two notches below them but that is still fine. Now that we have JO i think he can let the game come to him more and it will make him more comfortable on the court. But to answer your question Bosh has not reached superstar status and has had dismal playoff performances the last 2 years. I hope he proves me wrong and just absolutely dominates the playoffs but from what i have seen, Bosh is the anti-clutch.

Playing well in the Olympics has very little to do with the NBA. I don't see Bosh ever being a superstar. He doesn't have the physical or mental ability. Playing in Canada doesn't help. He's no Vince Carter.

I really cant say, this league is so tough to judge when it comes to emerging talent. I would like to see Bosh make it to that level, but I can't even say at this time if my own Dwight Howard will be a true superstar. I love Bosh, he just needs to become more fierce, cut that crap off his head and stay healthy for a few full seasons...

How you going to bring his haircut into it? LOL.... Its not that bad is it? I think it suits him and he's always been an individual and having the same haircut as everyone else isn't going to help him any. Staying healthy and getting some more fierceness (although he's no push over) to his game is obviously important.

lol, not sure why, but I have a personal gripe with his hair, I think it looks silly for a grown man to have hair like that...for some reason his looks especially ridiculous to me...outside of that, the health is a small concern, particularly in the knee department and he does need to add some more fire, and I agree, he's not a push over...

For me a superstar has to carry, not just lead, his team at some point in the season and especially in the playoffs. Some players are great, but don't rise to the occasion at big moments on a consistent basis. You also look at the guys who can beat the odds and carry a team that is inferior to victory over a seemingly superior team, or a player on a great team who constantly rises to the challenge to defeat tough opponents who actually have a chance to defeat that player's team. I also look at players who seem to inspire or make their teammates play better.

As a frustrated Knicks fan, Jordan embodied these qualities. I am not comparing Bosh to Jordan, but Bosh has done nothing at this point to make me even consider him for superstar status or even think that he can reach it someday.

He's on his way, but as of right now: no.

But Bosh and Wade have been the two most important pieces of Team USA thus far; hopefully it helps the American media see him more as a player than just a YouTube sensation.

I should have elaborated more..there are obviously other ways of being a superstar, but the playoffs is usually what you need..I never said you actually had to win, but you have to ELEVATE your game in the playoffs, because that's when your team needs you more than ever..that's where every game is magnified..I just mentioned the 2nd round, because Bosh disappointed in his 1st playoffs, and wasn't great in his 2nd..obviously winning an MVP award gives you an argument as well..

KG had won an MVP before AND led a team to the conference finals with just an above average supporting cast, only to lose to a great Lakers team..I've never considered Yao to be a superstar..I've considered McGrady to be a superstar, but only for a few years(in his prime)..he never went past the first round, but the guy definitely elevated his game with poor supporting casts..33.8 PPG, 8.3 APG, 6.5 RPG in 2000-2001..30.8, 5.5, 6.3 the next year..31.7, 4.7, 6.7 after that, and 30.7, 6.7 and 7.4 the year after..the guy was putting up great all-around playoffs, he just either couldn't do ENOUGH to surpass other teams(which wasn't usually the case IMO) and wasn't getting enough support..

Bosh was a huge disappointment in his 1st playoffs IMO, with his team losing to the lower seeded NJ Nets..he was pretty good this year, but didn't elevate his game IMO..it was the same as the regular season, except he got dominated by Dwight Howard(which isn't bad, since he's Dwight Howard and all)..

How is Melo on the same level as Yao?

How is Iverson even a superstar?

the Dwight thread was locked as it had run it's course...after 10 pages of back and fourth, all ground had been covered, just like it does every month when the same thread is posted...I fail to see what that has to do with your post being edited however...anything else?

I was having an insightful discussion with tsherkin I just wanted to get his rebuttal, but who am I to challange the divine power of the mods? (<-- a joke)

The Bosh comment was said purely in jest. Maybe I should utilize the green text in the future...

My apologies.

I would say Lebron has been THE most important piece. Team USA's deep bench (Wade, Bosh, CP3 and Deron) is what has set up apart from every other team.

I feel that a big part of being a "Superstar" is having the media to back it up, so I only consider players like Kobe, Lebron, Yao and Wade as superstars for the league (in terms of marketing purposes).
