Most of the medals they are winning are obscure events where judges have a big influence. Some of the medals they won in gymnastics were given to them.

I watched the gymnastics events and the Chinese were clearly superior...they had much better routines. It's kind of embarrassing for a "13" year old to win Gold over more experienced US players. They were clearly better.

If your good, your old enough. They deserved their Gold based on merit. No one will be able to prove they are not 16 due to their passports.

You don't have to be 16 to compete in all events. You only need to be 14, for example, to compete in diving

Really? I could have sworn the said platform diving had the same age limit as gymnastics?

Man these Olympics are fun to watch, the Beach volleyball both men and women games were great, swimming was fun to root for Phelps/other us athletes and the gymnastics with the men sneaking to get the bronze landing almost all there landings the women doing what they do it was awesome.

Costas was saying that there are new reports by the Olympic committee of a birth certificate of the girl winning the tie in uneven bars is 14 it will be investigated more. This could lead to them giving up the two golds and giving Nastia the gold along with the all around since the 14 year old particapated in that also.

No link I watched it during the Phil Domination show or mens beach volleyball final.

I think the rule should be all that are good enough should be allowed to compete. Its kind of stupid to have this you need to be a certain age. There is no proven benefit in being young. The best gymnast in history have been more long and sleek. The only event that being small and underage could be an advantage would be the balance beam. Really in the other events they be more at a disadvantage with strength.

I think there is a definite advantage, some of them weight up to 30 lbs less and are smaller and more limber than the older gymnasts. It makes it easier to do the crazy crap they do, and not too mention their bodies have been through less wear and tear. i believe some of the chinese gymnast havent done some of the world championsips because of not being of age, its still impressive that they are so young and do so well but im sure China could have rounded up older gymnast that are excellent also and who would be legal. And regardless Nastia Liukin's un-evan bar routine was better than He Kexin's (who is the main focus of the under age controversy) routine. Nastia deserves that gold.

A gymnast that is 12-14 years is able to do more elaborate moves that an older gymnast (16 and older) would not be able to do. Younger gymnast, who's bodies haven't developed, are lighter and more agile. This allows them to execute mover that they would not be able to do when they get older and their bodies are more developed. That gives the younger gymnast an advantage in score. That is also one of the reasons that they have an age limit.

And they're done. No foulplay. Good call, IOC. Oh, wait. The Olympics are officially a joke.
