Scola appreciation thread
The man played incredibly in the absence of Ginobili for all but like 5 minutes, and Nocioni who exited the game mid way in the 3rd. I'm Argentinen, and I have to say he put a smile on my face today. I'm happy for the USA too, as they put some integrity back on USA Basketball, though they aren't quite the Dream Team of old YET, or the world has just caught up a lot.

Re: Scola appreciation thread
Scola was on fire.
http://results.beijing2008.cn/WRM/ENG/I ... #BKM400202
Im fired to see him next season, and i think he is cause his contract is up.
If he can post 13-15 points, 7-9 rebounds with even better defense the MLE might be in danger :O
Im expecting him to put up his game, look at the utah game he had no problem to post 14 points and 9 rebounds.
Lol at the thread i thought he was leaving us, cause whenever i see appreciations thread its usually a gone player.

Scola will probably be gone when his contract is up. I don't see HOU matching what he's going to get from some international teams.

While I was proud of Scola's performance....
Those Argentines play DIRTY.
It's black letter fact. Those dudes play more with their elbows than with their feet or hands. They nudge and clip and undercut and grab and hit and it's no wonder Carmelo was about to get strapped. For once in his life, Carmelo was in the right.
Maybe it's a good thing Manu went out early. He's their ringleader - flopping and chipping and grabbing, he's nastier in FIBA/Olympic competition than he is the NBA. Way nastier. I just hope the Team USA members don't take out their anger against the Rox next year.
Hell, I would.
(For the record, I've never called Manu or Nocionni (sp?) floppers. I didn't care enough to get riled up about it. But now - finally - I get what everybody's pissed about. In Argentina, they TEACH that stuff. It's a national trait.)
Or...
Jerry Sloan must speak Spanish. It's the only explanation.

Scola will head back to Europe, so it's our loss and no-one else's (in the NBA's) gain.

Did he say he was leaving? Or is it just speculation? Or is it even less than speculation, and just a personal opinion? If Europe throws a big contract at him and he takes it, I won't be mad at him. Money talks. If he plays a big part in the next season and takes a million more and goes to Europe, then I'll be mad. I don't think there is or should be a price on being apart of a team that's "World Champions."

No chance if an internation team offers him more than we can ever give him.

It's what you just said - pure speculation/opinion based on the bold.

Hell an NBA team might want to overpay him.

Since he will prob get a full MLE offer in the States it's unlikely Scola willl head to Europe unless it's to be the Man on a team instead of the third or fourth option.

Re: Scola appreciation thread
^^ If you have a question about something like that, then PM either Vator or myself please.
As for Scola, I thought we signed him for 3 years? I could've sworn I heard that we'd have him for 2 more years.

We do. He is signed through the 2009-2010 season. But there may be some rule (of which I have no knowledge, but hey) where a European team could buy out his contract and offer him lots more money. Kinda like what we did to their players in the past.
