I don't think it matters one way or another.

Exactly. If Bynum goes down then we're forced to move Pau back to C, which is not all that bad. However, I'd like to see Pau play at PF full time which means we need a little bit of depth at C. There aren't any real alternatives out there, and MBenga has impressed me at times. That, and there is no way I see us retaining Mihm so eventually we will need a full time back up for Bynum anyway.
We really blew it by not going after Kwame, IMO. He could have helped us in that respect.

hahaha Kwame...
DJ Taco would be dumb to pick the Heat.
plus we need him to judo chop every opposing center

If I was him, I'd go to the Heat... more time opportunity.
But, I'd like to see him back unless we are that sure that Chris's foot and ankle are good to go.

yah if he is commited to adhering to the role that we need from him, then we should sign him. If not then ....nahhhh.... not interested.
He has got to be the punisher on this team!!!! nothing else. We really really need that.

i think it would be nice if the lakers kept him.
Only on realgm is 27,000 points, 5 rings, 1 rs mvp and 2 finals mvp considered overrated!

To me it does. We need a garbage big to fill up the roster.

Well he went to the finals with the Lakers. Heat won the lottery. Might get more playing time on a bad team. But with the lakers, he has a better chance to win and get some real respect. So it comes down to winning or money.

Re: Mbenga Deciding between Lakers and Heat
He's gonna make the same amount of money for either, cause the Heat don't have much to spend themselves. I think with us he'll get chances to play which in turn if he does well he'll raise his value to at least a chance to make close to 1 mil. for somebody else down the road.

Mihm has a player option, so he's bound to stay with us for next season anyway.

Re: Mbenga Deciding between Lakers and Heat
It makes more sense for him to sign with the Heat.
I'd rather sign a veteran. Magloire, PJ Brown, Juwan Howard, David Harrison, etc.

Re: Mbenga Deciding between Lakers and Heat
I'll just trust that the front office will gauge if Mihm is healthy enough for us to be able wait for the Alonzo sweepstakes in December. We definitely need a serviceable backup center for the next year's playoffs, and I so badly want Zo to be that guy.
I love the saying "Silent M time", though. I forget who here came up with it, but my buddy and I used it laughingly for the home stretch of last season. I like the vibe that Mbenga brings to the team, but he's not exactly in control on the court. If they don't sign Mbenga, I'd assume it has to do with his basketball IQ. Athletically, he's just what we need — a bruiser tower. Then again, how cheap is he? We could always sign him to an offer that allows us to drop him in December, should Zo come along.

Why not offer him a little more, we are so far over the lux any way. He did a good job with us when we need him to play. Pretty good defender.
