Bosh or wade in 2010?Paul 2012

Post#1 » by columbussports » Sun Aug 24, 2008 1:25 am

The Cavs could really use a number two guy to play with lebron james, is bosh in love with toronto and will the heat be contenders in two years to keep wade? what do you think of paul coming to play with his best bud bron in 2012. Keep in mind, mo williams contract expires the same year paul's does

Wade has looked amazing in the olympics, but I still feel we need a big- so either bosh or amare. There's probably no chance of paul coming here, but it might be a little more of a chance if we had bron and bosh/amare... that would be one hell of a big three.. but again.. let's just focus on a little shorter term and hope we land another big star in 2010.

I refuse to sound as silly as posters on other boards so I don't think that the Cavs get either. Truly big name free agents don't come to play in Cleveland. But that's okay, the Cavs should still be able to secure a second tier free agent that should be able to help the team tremendously.

I dont think they will get a superstar quality player but they will prolly revert back to the larry hughes philosophy, by that I mean over pay for a young all star and see if he grows into a superstar. bosh and paul are wishful but when has a Cleveland sports fan never wished?lol

lol we have no shot at any of those guys... i would be extremely happy if we were even able to land a josh howard... Anyways i don't see why we are counting on all of this capspace to be availible by 2010 i doubt we are going to just let all of our contracts expire without signing anyone. Anyway think about this if we let wallace and z expire those will be our biggest 2 contracts we would need just about all of that money to sign a player like wade to a max contract. Also sasha and andys contracts expire thats 4 players who actually bring value to the team and those two surely aren't coming cheaper than we already have them for

That is who I want. I've wanted the Cavs to have Johnson since they drafted Diop.

Personally, I think the Cavs have a better shot at keeping LeBron than Miami has at keeping Wade.

This is a stupid F'in thread. First of all this is two seasons away. Second and my main complaint is we get pissed when other teams fans (NJ, NY, etc) talk about LeBron leaving Cleveland but we go and start a dumba$$ thread like this. Everyone is counting their chickens....So lets worry about getting a contender around him this year, or we may be SOL and not have LBJ after the summer of 2110 :x

Cleveland better get in line. I hear the Nets, Knicks and Heat are signing LeBron. Bosh is going to Miami, Orlando, New York, New Jersey, and Toronto. Wade's going to Chicago, Miami, New York, and Orlando. And Paul is going to Portland, New Orleans, Miami, New York and New Jersey.

I guess I'd let Lebron go by that time.

I dont think it is stupid to discuss who may be available, and who the team may try to acquire. I think the thing you are missing is that we are discussing this on our board, AND NOT THE OTHER TEAMS BOARD. What pisses many of us off here is that we get one troll after another telling us who Lebron is going to sign with like they are Nostradamus.

And for the record I would love to see Joe Johnson here, though Bosh would seem to fill a greater need. then again by that time hopefully JJ will have turned into a solid NBA 4 and that need will not be as great. I would hope you are right though in saying the greater importance of winning now and keeping Lebron happy and here would take priority over what may or may not happen in 2010.

We'll likely have the money to re-sign Lebron, sign a superstar level player, sign a player who's just below all-star level, and fill out the rest of our roster spots with a few veteran deals/draft picks. Although it's naive to hope for the superstar to join Lebron, I agree with everyone in that we can get second tier free agents - I'd say we can get 2 of them. Let's say Tyson Chandler and Joe Johnson type guys (just using them as examples cuz they fit that category, could fit our team, and I believe are free agents that year). This would look pretty nice:

Chandler
Hickson
James
Johnson
Williams / Gibson

We'd still have at least 2-3 of these guys as well: Z (re-signed cheaply), Big Ben (re-signed cheaply), Pavlovic, Varejao, West, Kinsey, Jackson. Add in a couple more draft picks from '09/10, and a few cheaper veteran signings, and that Cavs team is looking very good and it's also pretty damn realistic. Something like:

Chandler / Z / '09 pick or Kaun
Hickson / Varejao / veteran
James / Kinsey
Johnson / veteran / '10 pick
Williams / Gibson

It's definitely huge wishful thinking that we'll land a Bosh or Wade in the future. But going for 2 second tier/fringe all-star players is very realistic in my eyes. We'll have the money, we'll have Lebron, and we'll be contenders yet still need a couple positions filled.

Hydro, I definitely think that's more realistic and that is still a really good team, though I don't think AV would come back to us.. (And I'm still hoping for one of the other superstars. lol)

Here's a good list of guys who will be free agents in 2010. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/stor ... ents-09-10
