Crazy ass game. I woke up 2 hours ago man. The game began at 2:30 and it finished at around 4:30. I went to bed at like 5:30 after all the medal celebrations were done.
Crazy ass game man. It doesn't matter if this is the Lakers, All-Star Team, Team USA, etc., everybody knows who has the rock in their hands when the is on the line. There is no denying that. You saw it tonight man. Everybody deferred to Kobe in the waning moments of the 4th.
That 4 point play, only Kobe can do that. That was a dagger. Game was over right there. Sure, Kobe shot a lot, but they were a result of the offense and mostly open shots which he would usually make.
Kobe, well, your birthday was well deserved as you put a dagger through Pau's throat, who annoyed me. He is too soft. MAN UP YOU WOMAN!

Anyway, I slept over the win, but thinking back, this was EASILY one of the best basketball games ive ever witnessed. wow.
I think most of us take for granted how special it is to get all these players on the court together in a COMPETITIVE atmosphere. Its no All-Star game with people tryna dunk from halfcourt and whatnot. This was special. The pressure put on by the Spanish team brough out everyones true colors. Wade, Kobe, Paul, everyone. It was a special game. One for the ages for sure. I hope I get teh chance to relive this moment in the near future.

Guy went from the Philly suburb to the Italian suburb and back.

BTW, those are cigarettes, not weed.

Those look like victory cigars to me. 50/50 Melo used them to make blunts.

Spain played out of their minds. Pau played well, his brother was a wreaking ball, Reyes was outstanding, Navarro played like he got kicked out of the NBA or something, Ricky Rubio was of course, sick and nasty and unbelievable.
Dwight Howard is just not right for the international game. Bosh was getting pushed around. All the criticism of our frontline seemed painfully obvious. Melo kept shooting and not playing defense. Kobe's shot was off. The refs were taking Kobe and Lebron out of the game.
This was a setup for disaster.
But we showed what we're made of.
Wade and Paul continued to give a spark off the bench. Everybody calm down, they said. Wade drove easily to the basket as he had all olympics, unstoppable as a small forward. Chris Paul cut Spain up.
And yet, and yet, the game became a reflection of that nagging question...did we want to win gold as much as the world? Were our players hungry enough?
And they were tested.
Kobe showed once again that he's one of the best perimeter defenders in the world, as he was the only guy able to slow down Navarro and Rudy. And when the game is on the line, it gave me goosebumps to see that when the pressure is on, when the crap hits the fan, when the worst case scenario happens, when it reaches defcon one, when others wilt, crumble, fumble, and panic, the man who rose to the occasion, the deus ex machina, was none other than our guy.
I love this game, I love our country, and I love that our boy represented at the biggest and brightest stage.
USA! USA!
One of the greatest, meaningful games I have ever seen in my life.
Redemption.
+1. man to me kobe just reinforced his position as the best player in the world. that guy is amazing.
Only on realgm is 27,000 points, 5 rings, 1 rs mvp and 2 finals mvp considered overrated!

Re: Gold medal game: Kobe vs. Pau II
Stayed up to watch it... great game. In addition to all said about Wade, Bosh, and of course Kobe's 15 straight crunch time pts or assts, Pau was solid as usual in the international realm but Rudy Fernandez showed up bigtime.
Not sure what impressed me more, three times between the legs then drill the 3 on Wade, or the roundhouse power dunk on Howard after Kobe's missed gamble. His reckless nature is probably what got him fouled out though, out of control at times. Ricky Rubio also showed good skills for a 17 y.o, but he has an ugly jumper.

Philly is the hood boyyyy. And what you know about Italy man? My boy Marbury is heading out there too

And yeah, I know those are victory cigars. Anything else mixed in by Melo or not, they deserve to get their 1 hour of happiness the way they played their asses off the summer.

I'll go on record right now and say we'll win gold in London in 2012...............book it.
You are right. Good coaching work and of course the best players around the world!
But you are wrong in one thing (You can ask everyone in that EAST part of the world) ... FIBA basketball has different rules, and referees have no bollocks (it's said like this?) to apply the rules.
Sounds bad but if applied, who knows if Kobe, Wade, Lebron, Dwight and Company could have won the final.

I only looked at guys 28 or younger by OG2012. Dwyane will be 30. I'm sure he'll be vying for a slot if he's not broken in half by then.
