Actually Stern wants to bring our game to them with an NBA Europe set of franchises. I wonder how any cross-the-pond scheduling would work, and I'm not sure there's enough talent out there to stock all the teams (since the Euroleague ain't going away) but the competition is getting better, that much is certain.

Can you say, league merger?

I think that may have to happen in order to meet the supply and demand of the game.
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

I'm really disappointed with the lack of defense the US displayed in the final. That said, they absolutely had the firepower to win in a shootout. Kobe and Wade especially showed up to play. Kudos to them, but I really wish we had nailed this game. On the plus side, it sure was exciting!

I don't think our defense was the problem. Both teams were playing at a high level, with the Spanish team playing at an even higher level then we were. Spain just could not overcome the lead we had built up and we answered when it mattered. Big ups to the Spanish squad

D-Wade was hands-down the MVP for us and was clutch every time. Kobe actually shot a bad%, but he-too came up with some big plays.

How about JCN? Dude stepped-up big-time as-well. Wouldn't you love to have him on your team during the playoffs? Too-bad it will never be.

Actually, Kobe had one big game, and he was almost the goat in this mornings game. Kobe strayed away from the offense and started jacking shots.......missing most of them. I believe Kobe shot a poor % for the Olympics. Still, he made enough big plays to justify sending him.

Guess I was wrong about the blowout by halftime, huh. I had to hang in there to the end...but I kinda enjoyed the fact that it was competitive game. Wade should indeed get MVP for his play throughout the Olympics.

As for Kobe, poor shooting % or not, when the game was on the line (Spain was down by two with about 4 minutes left) Kobe took over and proved once again why he's considered the best player in the world. Kobe is not only immensely talented he also happens to be one of the most competitve SOBs on the planet. And, as another poster has said, he wasn't about to let the Redeem Team lose.

I bet the Spanish Nat'l team could beat Boston in the Finals. Playing Euro-rules anyway.

Actually the International league is supposedly bumping the 3pt line out further and switching to a rectangular lane etc. even creating the cylinder beneath the basket. What's left? The Euro-allowed goaltending (after contact with the rim). Euro travelling rules. Mugging defense. NBAers should be doing better than their Euro opponents every year. Still I bet Spain could take 'em.
