Well that's pretty good news. He should get the starting job once AI is gone and will contribute. If he can play some D and keep making those 3's, he'll be a threat along with Melo.

Solid move, 3 years is long enough to see if he can evolve into a solid co-star for Melo and his contract won't suck up all the cap room if/when AI's comes off the books. With GK on the bench I still think we are doomed though.

He practiced every morning with the Nuggets' summer league team in Las Vegas in July. He attended assistant coach Tim Grgurich's intensive player camp at the beginning of August. And in the last couple of weeks, as Smith's representation and the Nuggets worked out the details on the contract, Smith was in the gym in Denver working on his game.

"You couldn't have spent more time working on his game than he did this summer," Warkentien said. "His work and demonstrated ability to work with our coaching staff to improve was a compelling piece for us, and a more than exciting piece for us. This guy has spent his summer in the gym."

new, best news of the summer.

group hug everyone.

Has anyone find out what JR Smith's contract is worth? I'm surprised it's taken so long to find out the official numbers.

3 years....with incentives....I believe the base for the 3 years is 16.5. But the contract is incentive laced, with escalators.

I think is a great deal... anything under 20 million for 3 years is a steal.

Sounds like JR is trying to be a good guy, and is happy to be back.

Thats a great article out of the examiner. One of the better sports stories I've heard in a while. Also makes me more excited about the season getting under way. All of his hard work in the offseason hopefully does pay off and he is finally in that starting lineup. Im sure he has been working on his ball handling alot more to even try to work his way in more next to Iverson. This team could still be very good if he can make as big of strides as he did throughout last year.
