Farmar, Vujacic, Ariza, Odom, and Powell would be a nice fast paced unit.
Fisher, Bryant, Radmanovic, Gasol, and Bynum, Radmanovic should have his down, meaning that there would be no double teams on Kobe, Gasol, or Bynum

Re: Odom as the initiator? can it work?
I think that will be our lineup to end close games this season.. I have no idea how teams can match up against that.. Sasha is going to have a serious height advantage over all of the PG's that have to guard him.. He'll knock down 3's over the shorter man all day.. Odom will also have a height advantage almost all the time..
Hopefully we're good enough offensively this season that Kobe can focus more on D.. When we go with that lineup at the end of the game we just have Kob lock down their biggest threat 1-3 & give LO the bigger of the 2 remaining players.. I think they'll have alot more trouble scoring on us than we will on them.. Sasha defends both guard spots better than both of our PG's, they shouldn't be in there at the end. The only thing that will cause problems with LO on D is quick SF's beating him off the dribble, which isn't going to mean a whole lot when they still have to get past 2 7 footers..

No to Odom as the initiator, because he is dumb.
Starting five:
Fisher
Bryant
Radmanović (???)
Odom
Gasol
6th man: Bynum

Re: Odom as the initiator? can it work?
Just to clarify... I don't see Odom bringing the ball up at all.
I think he will be the inbounds passer to Sasha or Fish or Kobe, run up the floor and set up as the top-most leg of the Tri...
I don't think Odom is dumb, I just think he's got focus issues, which, if he hasn't gotten them ironed out, will be fatal to any facilitator role we might desire of him.
Like I said before, Odom will have to read the D and react to it and set up the appropriate Triangle look... Not the role you want from someone who sometimes lets his head drift from the game he's playing in.
I think Odom is a good passer, has good court-vision, and a pretty good decision maker as far as where to distribute the ball. He is also our best slasher after Kobe even though he's lefty-limited...
Where he has problems is deciding when it's just time for him to shoot the ball instead of passing, and keeping his head in the game. Which is actually more of an issue for him on Defense.
But then again we have Walton, who's a better decision maker, better passer, and has the potential to be a much better shooter. And Ariza who could be a better slasher and a comperable defender....
It's kinda like the Wizard of Oz...
We got Odom--- "If I only had a J-Shot and a Brain at times..."
Ariza--- "If I only had a J-Shot, and some experience..."
And Walton (AKA: The Tinman cause he looked RUSTY last season)--- "If I only had some ankles..."

come on now, Detroit wouldn't do that. Billups would foul out
Billups has the size and strength to do a decent job on Kobe and you need to watcth the 2004 finals to see how effective he was for stretches when Tayshaun was not guarding kobe. Moreover Detroit would play a zone against us rather than try to match up 1 on 1.

2004?
we're talking about 08'-09', and if you think Billups is anywhere near his NBA Finals MVP level then you are clearly mistaken. That Pistons team also featured Ben Wallace and Rasheed Wallace, who clogged the lane so Kobe could never drive.
with Bynum in the fold, zone defenses are going to get opposing bigs in foul trouble. your going to see a lot more man to man defense because they can't afford to double team anyone really anymore.
Billups is slowing down, and there is no way he can keep up with Kobe.

If Odom adds this to his game, then yes.

If not, it's a no.

By the way, it's not an all or nothing question. At times, he initiates already, but I'd be very surprised to see PJ starting him at the point on a regular basis. That will most likely not happen.

i feel as if that lineup should be on the floor at some point during the game.
Odom's size allows him to see the floor differently. its at least worth a try

Starting Line-up
SF:Radmanovic
PF:Gasol
C:Bynum
SG:Bryant
PG:Fisher
Bench:
SF:Ariza/Walton
PF:Odom
C:Powell
SG:Vujacic
PG:Farmar
To finish things off:
I think that this would be the best way to put teams away for good.
SF:Odom (6 foot 10)
PF:Gasol (7 feet)
C:Bynum (7 feet)
SG:Vujacic(6 foot 7)
PG:Bryant(6 foot 6)
That would be a pretty big line-up. I think with Odom, Vujacic, and Gasol can hit shot from 15 feet and out. I know that Odom and Gasol aren't know for shooting very well form outside. I see it as they won't respect them as much leaving them open, uncontested, and all the time in the world to nail that outside jumper

Re: Odom as the initiator? can it work?
Rip and Billups would share minutes on Kobe. Rip actually does a very good job on Kobe and is a good defender. Doesn't Rip see as much time on Kobe as Prince does?

I'd rather have Odom on the floor to start than Radman, no matter if Odom develops an outside shot or not...
Radman is useless for anything other than catching and shooting from about 4 places on the floor.
In fact, I'd rather have Walton on the floor after Odom, and before Radman...
If we're healthy, our bench shooter is Sasha...
Radman should be handing out towels.
