it would appear the giants are taking an entirely different viewpoint in wanting to bring Strahan back out of retirement. Money is not an object. Obviously, the giants knew before the draft Strahan wasn't coming back, and they found a replacement. howevere, now because of injuries, they are turning to him first before trying to make a trade or picking up one of the remaining available free agents. their entire attitude to Strahan is a total 180 from the packers' management perspective.
it makes you wonder how much Tt and favre hated each other. it also makes you wonder if rogers had bcome injured , would Tt have called favre or would he have claimed one of TB's cast-offs like simms or griese?

You don't think that if Rodgers went down back in May or June and Favre wanted to return they wouldn't have welcome him back with open arms? Come on. This thread fails.

Strahan was smart enough and classy enough to stay retired............end of story.

What makes an athlete "classy" by choosing to stay retired vs coming back to play?

Re: favre verses strhan
Classy has nothing to do with it. Favre wanted to keep playing and Strahan didn't.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Re: favre verses strhan
For this to become a parallel story, the Giants must pick up a replacement and 2 months from now Strahan must beg for his return.
Another thing is that this is DE, one of the most highly-rotated positions in the league where you don't need a ton of knowledge of the system to play. You don't see a 1st pick DE placed on the bench for 1-2 years so he can "learn the system."
Let's say the Giants picked a replacement for Strahan and really liked him, and Osi didn't go down hurt. Now let's imagine that Strahan pulled a Favre and begged to come back today. The Giants could just rotate them 50/50 and keep the still-effective Strahan on the field and get his young understudy plenty of the time AND both of them would be fresh out there.
I'm sure McCarthy and Thompson would have gotten plenty of support for taking Favre back and in order to get the guy that they need to be the future of the position on the field telling Favre that he will only be their 2nd/3rd and 10+ yards to go QB.

Completely different situations, not even comparable.
