Thanks for all the info P4, it was kind of confusing as to why that team with playoff talent so underperformed. I for one am not too worried about mo, it will be refreshing to see someone in a Cavs uni who can create for himself, and beat his defender off the bounce.

I think even if he can't work too well off of the ball, he's going to be a big help. LeBron is the only guy on the team who can create, or was before Mo. So now, there's much less of a burden on him as he doesn't need to be the PG on every possession. Also, when he's out of the game, the team won't look lost, or if he sits a game out, the Cavs might actually win one.

yea that already have taken a lot of pressure off of bron....but having mo really help out the backcourt...now(the rest off the off-season) it is just time to focus on bigs

Mo Williams is a solid offensive basketball player and winning cures lockeroom problems.

These are the potential problems as I see them with the Cavs doing this deal.

1. They may have only traded Joe Smith and Damon Jones to get Mo Williams on paper but what its likely to cost them is Joe Smith, Damon Jones and Delonte West. If they still manage to re-sign Delonte to play his ideal role as a combo guard then its a great move.

2. They need to get Mo Williams to commit to playing defense, the Cavs at their core are built around the idea that if they hold teams in the mid 90's that LeBron James will win more often then not in the fourth quarter of a close game. The ideal behind this deal is to get the Cavs to score in the 100 PPG range but its all for nothing if they also start to give up 100 points per game and the reason why LeBron is able to win close games is because the Cavs can get stops with their defense.

3. The issue with the Cavs offense and the lack of success from shooters might be more about Mike Brown's lack of an offensive system then it is about the lack of players who can produce. Its also a little bit crazy that Mo Williams would've been a more meaningful pick up before last years trades. A lineup of Big Z, Gooden, LeBron, Hughes and Williams would've been a much better balance of offensive and defense.

Bosh, O'Neal, Brand, and Iguodala could all go down with season ending surgeries, but Z, Mo Williams, Wallace, and Lebron can all be injury prone, as well. The Cavaliers are a good defensive team with one star player and a top 10 point guard in the east that have reached the finals, but they are injury prone, and lack a real star scorer or much of a dominant presence down low. Mark my words, the Magic, Raptors, 76ers, and/or Celtics (if healthy) will beat the Cavs in the playoffs.

Good thing games aren't played on paper.

Yeah, I know that I really shouldn't have brought this back up but I just wanted to find my comments about Williams. Yeah, I have some Mike James worries, but I really wasn't against this trade at all. Just worried.

he plays zero defense and needs to dominate the ball to get his points. you need a defensive minded pg who is going to pressure the ball and get steals - and be a knock down catch & shooter on the other end. remember that guy? .....its the one Ferry just told to take a hike, DWest.

better hope Ferry trades Wally+++ for a legit big, otherwise the likes of Brand, Howard, and KG are gonna feast. Without someone who can at least pretend to score from the paint, your offense will consist of LB and Mo taking turns in the iso - shooting contested jumpers in a swarm of defenders.

lol wut, number 1 ranked offense in the league as of now  West is our starting SG

Kobe_not_MJ wrote:Mo Williams doesn't help you guys. He's another Daniel Gibson. He's a good player, but he doesn't necessarily make your team better. He's a shoot-first PG just like West and Gibson. When you guys stop stockpiling players who are exactly the same in the backcourt (Wally and Sasha are clones of each other and just as one-dimensional, while you have Delonte, Gibson, and now Mo at PG). Mo Williams is not the star that LeBron needs and wants.

Neither team is anywhere as good as what Boston was last season, or Detroit has been in the last few years, and the Cavs were more than capable of holding their own against them...

Fact of the matter is-- Mo Williams is the perfect fit for the Cavs... He can play both on and off the ball, and unlike anyone we've had here since LBJ, Mo Williams can flat out score...

He can score from mid range
He can score in the paint
He can score from 3

He also is someone that can handle the ball within the offense...

LeBron James alone is arguably as good as any TEAM in the east.. Another scorer like Mo could put us over the top... Still having Wally and AV to trade for another piece, should indeed put us over the top, and back into the finals if everyone remains healthy...
My goodness... I am a F'ING GENIUS...
