MEM-UTA-MIN

I was a bit surprised to read on Wiretap

http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wireta ... ke_a_move/
"they reportedly have had trade discussions with the Knicks involving Zach Randolph, and the talks still ongoing. Memphis is willing to part with Darko Milicic in a package that wouldn't include either Rudy Gay, Mike Conley, or O.J. Mayo. "

A poster on the Trade Board suggested if they were willing to take on an badly overpaid Zach Randolph, that perhaps Utah would be in a good position to trade them Andre Kirilenko and get him off the books, with his cheaper 3-year deal. His suggestion was Darko, Warrick and a PG (Crittendon or Lowry), however, that package doesn't really fit Utah's needs. He tried running it through POR such as the article suggested, with Outlaw and Bayless, and moving the PG up to Conley, but POR fans jumped down the guy's throat.

Could MIN be a better conduit? I think we can easily present a package that would fit Utah better.

MIN GIVES: Jason Collins (exp) + Rashad McCants
MIN GETS: Darko + Crittendon or Lowry

Darko's deal is two years long at $7.0 and $7.7, so it doesn't mess up our 2010 Summer free agency plans. He's been in the league for five years and three different teams, but he just turned 23. He continues to produce uninspiring numbers (7 PPG, 6 RPG, FG 43%), but there's no denying the "potential" at 7 foot, 275 lb .. its just after five years, when do you give up on the potential? Crit or Lowry would provide us with a third PG with potential. I'm very nervous about how an injury to Foye or Telfair would affect us.

MEM GIVES: Darko + Warrick + Crittendon or Lowry
MEM GETS: Kirilenko

After missing out on Josh Smith, Kirilenko gives them a pretty interesting, but risky PF. Its the same deal as the Zach one, but in my opinion Kirlenko is a better guy on the team both for production and with a better contract.

UTA GIVES: Kirilenko
UTA GETS: Warrick + Jason Collins (exp) + Rashad McCants

This package should be better for Utah because of the fit. Warrick is decent and young and should help spell some of Kirilenko's minutes. Collins is an expiring, and maybe combining the twins can motivate them both (or at least get the Jazz more pub). Finally, I think McCants would be a big plus for the Jazz, who currently have Ronnie Brewer as their starting SG. He might frustrate Sloan with some of his habits, but he'd love the work ethic.

What do you guys think of Darko? He's very hard for me to evaluate.

Darko is way too crazy even for me. He'll ruin our good chemistry, I'd look in a different direction.

Utah posters still value Kirilenko very highly. Thus Utah says no.

No for MN as well. Personally would rather have McCants and the cash then a third young PG and Darko.

I read Darko as "Marko" and almost boiled over. Then I read your reasoning.

Darko is crazier than my 3rd ex-wife, but man, he eventually has to figure it out, right? He's got SO MUCH POTENTIAL.

No one on the team speaks Serbian (is that what he speaks), maybe they wouldn't be influenced by him.

On a side note: there's a thread on the Memphis board about how much positive value, and veteran leadership Fatoine will bring to the team. I chuckled. :-)

lol i cant say about critttttentttton, but if Lowry is a part of the deal going to minnesota, he's not gonna be the 3rd pg....he could easily take over telfair's spot and even compete minutes with Foye when Randy struggles.

Darko, meanwhile, would fit in the wolves need as a pure 7 foot center and a clear upgrade over fellow 7 footer Booth and Collins, and his defensive blocking abilities compliment Mr Jefferson well....but again....he's in that Lebron Wade Melo Bosh class yet he's not proved himself......i donno if he can do better than avg 8 pt 8 reb.....

I haven't seen alot of Lowry but from the numbers he looks alot like Telfair, small point guard who can't shoot.
