you mean like Ousmane Cisse, Felipe Lopez, Korleone Young, Lenny Cooke, john Bender, Leon Smith

do anyt of those guys ring a bell...probably not because they were adolescent phenoms that never reached their potential and for intent purposes peaked in highschool.

I´ll believe that your not comparing the best PG in the last ACB season with these media-fabricated NBA busts...

Or maybe curling.

Ok, you named some guys we never heard of...now tell us what Ricard Rubio has in common with them that makes you think he is close to his peak?

I've never heard of those guys but I'm sure they were all athletic freaks. What makes Rubio special is his intelligence, his understanding and natural feel for the game... He's playing pro ball since 15 and not for a single time he looked like a rookie. Get my point?

Forget it man. Even when Rubio win his third MVP there will be some people (most of all americans) who will say that he´s overrated...

Felipe Lopez an athletic freak? No, he was basically ahead of the curve when it came to understanding and feeling the game. The problem was that was his ceiling...Rubio ceiling is low. He does not have athleticism and there's only so much growth you can have in intelligence and court awareness, unless he develops telepathy.

and I'll put this on record. If you send some of Americans best highschool players to the Spanish league they will run circles around those players. The stuff Rubio is doing now is "street balling" is straight from NYC, so it's funny how he's compared to Pete Maravich who also was "inspired" by watching inner city kids play. I love how they say "oh he's doing moves at 17 year old that no one is doing" then I go look at highschool games and I see the same thing.

what will be a good barometer is how well Brandon Jennings plays overseas...if he destroys the competition then that will be proof

are you kidding me? i remember a young stephen jackson (who was touted enough that he thought he was going to be drafted) out of high school trying to play in the lowly Aussie leagues years ago and yes, he looked like an athletic freak, but one who couldnt get off the bench cause he just couldnt play- even though he dominated high school ball.

Imagine a team made up of American high school kids trying to play in the Olympics? They would get blown out by 50 or more. Hell, a team of the best college kids would probably get blown out as well. I think Jennings will do okay, but from what i know im not sure that he will have the same impact Rubio had.

Rubios ceiling is low? At 17? I guess ignorance is bliss.

I can't wait till Rubio completely obliterates this Jennings kid when they play each other, yeah, I put that on record, too...

Yeah because clearly "unathletic" guys like Steve Nash have no business playing in this league.

I remember how Larry Bird was athletic...

and Pete Maravich

and Dirk Nowitzki

and John Stockton

...

I don´t know, but the NBA looks like a contest to see who has the 55´ vertical leap...basketball is not just it...

the percentage of good unathletic players vs bad unathletic players is heavily tilted. Not saying athleticism is a must have in the NBA but not having it means you have to over compensate somewhere else.

And Dirk is pretty freakin athletic for his size.

is this the same Aussie league that Nick Horvath is dominating in? You know the guy who was the 10th man on Duke's team? If the college kids had time to prepare the would hold their own IMO, i wouldn't say they'd win every game but they would hold their own if prepared.

LOL@bringing up Stephen Jackson. He was not ready to play professional ball. He had a great MCDAA game and tried his luck in the NBA and didn't make a team. If I recall he even played down in the CBA and was horrible. So it's natural that him going overseas to an Australian team it would be more of the same. He just wasn't as good as he is now.

 so how many of those amazing "street ballers" did those moves in the olympics against the world's best? methhinks someone is being just a litttleee biased here.

dominant? lol. Nick Horvath is a benchie in the Aussie NBL. He had one nice season and has been a bench player ever since. Im not sure if he made a roster last season? he might have been placed on 'injury reserve' . He is on a roster this season only because hes playing as an Australian. Hes just another big.

I think college kids might (just!) hold their own in terms of talent, but would get blown away simply because the other teams are SO much more experienced in terms of actually playing basketball. The Olympics is no time for kids (unless your name is Ricky Rubio).
