DVD: GB Packers Greatest Games

Anybody purchase this DVD that came out this week? Its got the top 10 games voted on by the fans in their entirety. It looks pretty cool, especially if you're into the modern day Packers. There isn't anything from the Lombardi years. In fact, besides the highest scoring game in MNF history, its all from the 90's/2000's. I was just curious if the audio is the Packers radio guys or the actual TV commentary? On amazon.com it appears to be TV but all of the ads I heard on the radio are the Packers Radio network version. I hope its the latter as I think I'll pick this up soon.

Sounds like a great disk.....but only one game from the 1980's? Uggh.

I realize that decade sucked quite a bit, but they could have done a top-ten just with 80's game and I would have bought it. You could have included a couple games with Majik from 1989. A few more games from the Lynn Dickey/Jefferson/Lofton era and even a couple of those blizzard games from the Gregg period.

I was hoping the 1989 "Instant Replay" game would be on there where Majik hit Sharpe at the end. That was a huge game b/c it was the first time the Pack beat the Bears in many years. I think to this day the Bears put an asterik in their media guide for this game. When they reversed the call to a TD, Lambeau just exploded like no other and the players were jumping all around like they won the Super Bowl.

Although a tad before my time, the "Snow Bowl" would've been a good add from the mid-80's.

I bought the games collection at wal-mart for like $32 and if you like watching classic games I definatly recomend it,$32 for 10 games is a pretty nice deal.

I only watched Super Bowl 31 so far and chekced out the NFC title game in '96 & the '83 monday nighter and the comentary was the TV guys,im not sure but I think the commentary is the tv guys on all games.

Having Jim Irwin & Max Mcgee's radio calls for the games would have been awesome.

One of my hobbies is collecting old Packer games and I already had all of these games but I bought the collection anyway for the picture and sound quality.The games I collect are nice quliaty and definatly watchable but they are VHS transfers and look a bit fuzzy on my 60 inch.

The games in the collection have been re-mastered and are professional DVD quality and they look & sound incredible,watching super bowl 31 on the big screen in perfect 10/HD quality was definatly worth the $32.

One thing that some might find dissapointing though is after the Super Bowl game there wasnt much post celebration,they show Holmgren getting carried off the field but a few seconds later the DVD ends.I think they should have included the trophy presentation.

That snow game in '85 was wild,to this day I dont think I have ever seen a game in which it snowed that hard.I was 7 at the time and I remember watching that game with my dad at a department store while my mom was christmas shopping,that game is actually one my first Packer memories.

I'd love to watch the original broadcast of the ice bowl but did you guys know the original broadcast of that game as well as Super Bowls 1 & 2 dont even exist or either havent been found.

Obviously they didnt have VCRs in those days so you'd have to get the footage from the film acrhives from TV stations,problem is that back in those days film was expensive so the stations would re-use the film and of course in the process record over the previous footage.

So far the original CBS broadcasts of the ice bowl and super bowls 1 & 2 havent been found and probably dont exisit.All we have is the NFL film highlights.I always thought the NFL probably had the original broadcasts but obvioulsy they dont because if they did they would have been included in this boxed classic game set.

Unlike you guys, I didn't pay attention to football growing up, so I never saw many of these. I'm going to pick this disc up to get caught up a bit.
