The Worst Moment in your Favorite Teams History

Post#1 » by Matt15 » Fri Aug 29, 2008 7:05 pm

As a Lakers fan it would have to be the 24 point blown lead in game 4 of the 2008 Nba Finals. Everytime the Lakers won a big game me and my friends would get our huge Lakers flags and drive around waving them out of the windows to people. Everybody would start cheering and honking, like music to my ears. I remember getting the flags ready and watching in utter disgust as they blew the lead and gave away the game. Makes me mad just thinking about it again.

So whats your worst moment in your favorite teams history?

BOS: (1) Deaths of Reggoe Lewis and Len Bias, that was gutwrenching.

(2) On a sportive side, no doubt about Magic's junior junior sky hook. BOS simply choked that one away. Bird and Co already led by 6 late in the game, then Cooper (!) hits a clutch 3, Bird makes several bad plays until he hits a SUPER clutch 3 to put BOS up by 2 with 12s to go. Then KAJ gets hacked and misses his 2nd FT, and instead of grabbing the rebound, the ball goes out of bounds, and the rest is history. To add insult to injury, Bird *just* missed a last gasp 3 to win the game. That was depressing.

DAL: (1) Ending of Game 5, 2006 NBA FInals. How many chances must you waste to win an utterly crucial game? Led by 2 with 5s left, then Wade gets fouled. Then led most of OT, and then JHO misses two clutch FTs which could have put DAL ahead by 4. Then led by 1 with 5s left in OT, and then Wade gets fouled (?) and hits both, with JHo calling a nonexisting timeout. Harris misses full court launch, Dirk commits vandalism and gets fined. Boy was I gutted.

(2) The entire GSW debacle, especially Game 6 where MVP Dirk scored a measly 8 points and sat out the 4th quarter.

idk, it's tough really...for me it might look like this

1a) Losing Shaq
1b) Penny's injury
2) Getting swept in the finals
3) Having to trade T-Mac

Orlando:

1- Game 1 of the 1995 NBA Finals. Nick Anderson missed FT's. Kenny Smith 3, Hakeem tip in in overtime....

2- Shaq leaving.

4- Signing an injured Grant Hill.

3- Tmac proclaims "it feels good to be in the second round" against Det in the 2003 playoffs.

0.4 easily...Duncan makes 1 of the best shots you'll see in that type of game, only to see Derek Fisher follow it with a shot we might not ever see again...

Aside from truly sad moments like the passing of Jason Collier...

(there are a few...)
Trading Nique for Danny Manning and watching him leave
Trading for Rider and watching him strangle the life out of the chise
Every draft pick from 84 until Josh Smith
Missing Chris Paul
Drafting Shelden Williams and the rest of that offseason (signing the two worst players in the league statisticall, Claxton and Lo Wright for almost 10 a year)

As a cavs fan the worst moment is the day that we lost lebron 2 years in the future. Ill never forget how sad i felt that day he signed with the nets.
