Is Brian Brohm the worst Packer QB you've ever seen?
I'm starting this one off MD's game thread comment. I've seen a ton of Packer games in the pre season and regular season. I can't remember a worse QB.
Sure, we've had limited one game or half game stints like the TJ Rubley situation that were awful. But can you guys recall a QB that has seen extended action over a few games and looked as bad as Brohm? I can't.
Sure he's playing with the second string, but I can't recall a Packer QB who looks so out of place. He seems incapable of even dropping back to pass. I can't see this situation getting better in the years ahead given where Brohm is now (the bottom). Hopefully this thread comes back to bite me in a year or two.

Rodgers was at least as bad his first pre-season and it carried on the entire season.

Rubley was bad and it was regular season but it was just part of one game. We had a lot of bad QB's between Starr and Favre but I don't recall anyone looking as bad as Brohm.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Anthony Dilweg....weak arm bad athlete......and a number of cheeshead zealots loved him too.
Not sure Rodgers was this bad, but with Rodgers you at least saw athleticism and arm strength...Brohm is small, slow, and and does not possess a strong arm.

I was waiting for someone to finally make a tread on this. The guy is just way over his head in every area of the game. A-rod was never this bad, not saying B.B. wont improve to be a decent QB, but is isn't even close.

I saw Dilweg play extensively....Brohm's not even close. Remember Dilweg led us to a season opening victory over a good Ram's team in 1990 with 300 yards of passing. Can anyone envision Brohm doing that?

Re: Is Brian Brohm the worst Packer QB you've ever seen?
jerry tagge was bad, but he was from green bay and he led nebraska to a national Championship , se we made him a first round pick.
Rich Campbell from cal comes to mind. he was a first round pick.
I liked robbie bosco.
there have been plenty of other bad Qb picks.
are you suggesting TT is not as great of a drafter of Qbs as many people think he is? TT almost made a trade to move up to claim brohm. he was about t o draft brohm where he drafted Jordy.
and while you're dissing Brohm, that jordy guy is not looking anywhere close to the way jennings looked as a second round receiver. he's looking a lot more like ferguson. i can't blame Tt for drafting ferguson, although i'd like to. and brandon Jackson and harrel are looking "not so great" .
I'm disapointed brohm has not looked better. i had hoped he would be our future QB. I guess i'll have to wait for the packers to draft painter.

Brohm might be the worst healthy Packer QB I can remember, right up there with Rich Campbell. When it comes to worst QB ever, though, I tend to think of some of the QBs we tried out whose arms were so pathetically weak they couldn't even throw a 15-yard out, like Tim Couch and Jim Zorn.

The list above are guys who played at least one regular season game. We had a bunch of stiffs in the preseason who never saw regular season action.

I may have watched one Louisville game with Brohm as the QB, i can't remember, but did see all the highlights ESPN would show. I knew he wasn't athletic, but didn't realize he was this unathletic. The guy is a friggin statue back there, he can't move his feet at all when pressured. Mix in his mediocre at best to weak arm, man, i was very wrong in liking the choice at the time.
There have been some pure pocket passers that had zero athletic ability who managed to be a quality starting NFL QB, but i'm trying to think of one who was both a statue and had a poor arm?
I'm drawing a blank.

To me Brohm looks like the proverbial deer in the headlights so far, which is more about him not having adjusted mentally yet to the speed of the NFL than an indictment of his athleticism. His feet aren't moving because he is in mental lockdown mode (and all our O-line injuries haven't helped). Of course, this is scary considering he was supposedly an experienced, NFL-ready prospect. I would dearly love to not have to see him play again until next year's preseason and then reassess whether the game has slowed down for him.
By the way, the Packers finished the preseason as effectively the worst pass-blocking unit in the league (Washington surrendered 17 sacks to our 16, but the Redskins played an extra 5th preseason game this year). Hopefully that was just a momentary toxic mix of too many injury-forced lineup mixes combined with too many young QBs holding the ball too long.

Re: Is Brian Brohm the worst Packer QB you've ever seen?
I wont argue Brohm looked bad but im gonna give him a 2nd chance next pre-season before I write him off completely.
I dont watch much college football so I hadnt seen him before he was a Packer but the guy must have some talent and potential, wasnt Borhm being talked about as the #1 overall pick in the 2007 draft?
And when we took him last April in the 2nd round many felt we got a steal.
Im thinking the guy must have some ability and potential in the NFL if people where saying those things about him.The guy probably wasnt ready for the NFL just yet.Once he learns and adjusts to the NFL game and gets his confidece to a higher level maybe he will be ok.

My fear is he was mainly just a system QB that allowed him to thrive in college ball, but it won't translate well to the NFL. Look at all the QB's that put up incredible stats at Florida when Spurrier was the head coach, but they couldn't do anything in the NFL.
I watch my share of college football, but i'm not a college football junkie so i never really cared about Lousville enough to watch them and Brohm. So when we got him late second round, i figured it was a steal also. Watching him though so far, now i see why even QB starved teams passed on Brohm and why he slid so far in the draft. Immobile quarterbacks with mediocre at best to weak arms face a tough road to thrive in the NFL, regardless if they put up gaudy college numbers.
I'm not nearly as concerned by the fact his production has been so poor. I'm far more concerned by how unathletic he looks and some of those wounded ducks he's thrown up because he doesn't have a strong arm. I believe it was the prior week and Brohm was throwing a hail mary before half from around the 50 yard line, the wobbly duck didn't even get near the endzone. Same with a few out patterns, he had nothing on the throws. In college QB's can get away with that, in the NFL, those get picked for a TD.

Ken O'Brien with the Jets.....I think father/son Griese fits the bill as well....Steve Deberg was bigger but did not have a gun.........not to many really.
