It's only a matter of time now until the team is officially "thunder"
Can't wait to see the logos...
Too bad we have to wait even longer for the jerseys...

*Prays that the team will somehow be named "Outlaws"*
Brother Mouzone: You're the perfect bait. They will view you as conflicted, you're homophobia is so visceral.
Lamar: See that. I haven't even walked in the place yet and you're already calling me a c0cksucker.

No offense, but 'Thunder' sounds like a WNBA team name. It's going to take a while to get used to that.
much respect to the 2011-2012 champions, Miami Heat, well deserved

Re: Nickname to be announced
I think there are a lot of NBA team names and really sports team names in general that sound pretty dumb at first and people just grow accustomed to them. Not really too concerned about it... in a few years it'll be just as accepted as some of the name like Lakers, Spurs, Heat, Magic, etc. None of them are really your "standard" nicknames like the Bears, Tigers, Eagles, etc. but nobody really gives the names a second though anymore.

I still think the Barons would be the best.

EXACTLY. Thunder is a lot better than the other suggested names also.
There are a lot worse names that people and fan never complain about... like what the hell is a Knick?

The term "Knickerbockers" traces its origin back to the Dutch settlers who came to the New World -- and especially to what is now New York -- in the 1600s. Specifically, it refers to the style of pants the settlers wore ... pants that rolled up just below the knee, which became known as "Knickerbockers," or "knickers".
Through history, the Dutch settler "Knickerbocker" character became synonymous with New York City. The city's most popular symbol of the late 19th and early 20th centuries was "Father Knickerbocker," complete with cotton wig, three-cornered hat, buckled shoes, and, of course, knickered pants.

I find Knickerbockers one of the coolest names for a sports team

Re: Nickname to be announced
How is Thunder better then Outlaws or Barons?
Im sorry, but that is officially the worst name in pro sports. This is coming from a Utah Jazz fan. At least we adopted the name that we had(I know you lost that in the law suit), otherwise our name would be something to the effect of Snow Bears or Mountaineers. Thunder is weak sauce. Just please dont have blue uniforms. Outlaws would be the best. Outlaws at least synonymous with the midwest and the old cowboy roots of OK, Texas and Miz.

That is HIDEOUS. If that is truly the logo it is easily the most uncreative in all of professional sports. I would rather have solid color uniforms than that crap.

Re: Nickname to be announced
It's not about whether a team name is unique or not. Yes, the Lakers, Spurs, Saints, whatever are all 'strange' names compared to Bears, Tigers, Eagles, etc, but that's not why they're good.
Thunder is just generic- even worse than the Bobcats. The "Barons" would've been strange, but it would've been good.
